partifan Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 Today was my 32nd, and I lit up a Party Lusitania, a CoRo, and an Upmann Epicure. The Lusi was a grand 2.5 hour treat, while the CoRo lasted 45 minutes with a friend, and the Upmann a half hour with a pair of friends. They were all wonderful, but I was surprised how well the Upmann stood up to two cigars that vie for the best regular production habano. The Lusi had wonderful vanilla and baking spices, the CoRo was on fire with hay, coffee and cocoa bean, but the Upmann's spice and wood was holding its own. Goes to show you price isn't always a factor in taste and sometimes the small but potent can hang with the big boys.

Habanakane21 Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 I have a box of 2006 Cohiba LE Piramides that I've been smoking out of. I got 4 more left. Which means at 46 yrs old I'll need to find me another birthday smoke. Maybe the box of 2011 RA Extra's I picked up a few weeks back will be the ones.

cigcars Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 *Everyday's my birthday when I can get a luscious Havana smoke! I really don't have any particular cigar to choose on any particular day...it's just what ever my mood hints
mk05 Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 I haven't really smoked for a long time. I was introduced to the world of cigars when I graduated high school from my grandfather with a box of vintage Davidoffs. That one amazing cigar changed my life. I still have a picture where everyone else in the photo is smiling and I'm staring at a cigar. 21st birthday I smoked the rest of the box of Davidoff 2000 from my birthyear with some friends. 22nd birthday I cracked the box of Cohiba Sig II from '96 with friends 23rd birthday I smoked a Monte #2 from mid-80s gifted by a storied shop here in boston who pretty much backed the fuente family. (also a graduation present from him) College graduation I tasted the Davidoff DP and didn't realize what it was, chucked it quarter/halfway through since I had class pictures and etc. (had multiple majors and minors so had to go to each end of campus to get the diploma haha) 24th birthday, my good friend gave me a diplomatic CC from '60s. big honkin thing. This year I gave my CCs out to fellow members at my cigar club and smoked whatever they offered me in return. I think I smoked a VSG and a Tatuaje something. It was fun seeing my botls faces light up as I ruined their palate for the rest of their lives with aged CCs.
tempbond Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 This year the Montreal 2012 Winter Mega Herf is just a couple days before my birthday, so I will take the opportunity to smoke something that takes a while and that is special. Here's what I've been saving in my humidor for a while (still undecided...) I would smoke these over the 2 nights, pre-herf and herf : - Behike 56 (never had one before, I've been waiting for the right moment to smoke the one I bought) - Partagas Lusitania (never had one before, just bought one this weekend) - Cohiba Siglo III (one of my favorites) - Hoyo des Dieux (one of my favorites) - Monte 2 or PSP2 (haven't had either in a long while) - H. Upmann Mag 46, from 2005 or 2006 (never had one before, I've been waiting for the right moment to smoke one from a 3 pack bought in Cuba last summer) - RyJ Churchill from 2001 (I tried one already, but it had a very tight draw, hoping the next one will be better) - Ramon Allones 898 from 2006 (never had one before, just bought one this weekend) - A few quality NCs, haven't decided which yet And if I win the lottery between now and then, a Cohiba 1966 After that, I'll be on the list for a lung/heart transplant...

Post 03 Mag 46 are subpar. It is borderline criminal to compare the previous years to post 03 production. They used to taste like a refined rj in that it gave flavors of nuts fruit and had a sweetness. Wont find any of that in these im afraid.
