After Baylor Slaughters the Huskies in the Alamo Bowl, I am heading up to my cabin in the mountains of Arkansas for a week with good family, good friends and great drinks, food and cigars. One of my great friends, who is also a FOH BOTL, will be with us and we have a pretty extensive Herf planned. We will be sure to document the entire event. Plenty of beer, wine, whiskey, and other spirits are already packed. Menu items include Whole (uncut) prime beef tenderloin, Whole Side (uncut) Prime Ribeyes, 12lb. Brisket, 10 lb pork shoulder, a ham, a turkey, 6 chickens, homemade bratwurst and sausages, Ribs, and much much more.

Here is what I have packed in my travel humidor:

1 2006 Hamlet Custom Roll no.2 Piramid

2 2009 Behike 52's

2 Diplo 2's

4 PSP 2010 Monte 2's

2 HU Sir Winnies

2 Cohiba Genios Maduros

No worries I already jinx their Heisman Trophy winner. I made a vodoo doll with braids and bug eyes!! Stuck pins in his throwing are!!! Lol..They need to be worried about our RB. Chris Polk. Their defense is just as bad as ours. The game is going to be a high scoring one. BOW DOWN!!

No need to dry-box anything since my humi is rock-steady at 65% so I can pick what calls to me :)

Probably a Hamlet Custom Robusto Extra - all depends on the weather and the company (winging it this year in terms of party plans).

A happy and prosperous new year to everybody!

Ok, this is probably a newbie question here and it may even have been discussed before. If my humidor is at 70%, how long should I Dry Box a CC before smoking? Also, do you recommend using a desktop humidor that has no humidifier at all? What is the recommended RH of the dry box?

Small world. Go Bears!

I'm going with a BHK 54 (and it will be my first). Can't wait.

In my opinion, perfect humidor conditions are 63-65 rh. At those ideal levels I still will dry box for a day or half a day, but it's not usually needed. If you are keeping any cigar at 70 rh, the cigar will smoke and taste better at a lower rh, I would recommend 48 hrs dry boxing. Ideally you would just want to stop storing your sticks at 70.

I keep mine controlled at 65F and 63-65 rh.

I dry box in a desktop humidor with no humidification.

I suggest bringing a portable propane heater always helps me. But try to enjoy your smoke.

Thanks so much for the info. I will need to buy several pounds of 65% beads to get my humidor right. Thanks again!

1966 for me and will give my pals BHK 54 while we sample some Utopia and DFH 120 of different years...no dry boxing. All sitting in 65/65.

Behike 52 or 54 or both

Probably a LGC MdO 1, 3 or 4 at some point

My buddies will likely bring a few tasty smokes as well

We have a sedate evening at a local private men's club planned, drinks, dinner, music, more drinks, and cigars all night long.

Looking forward to it.

I think I will go for a 2003 Siglo VI. I'll crank up the wood stove and sit in my sunroom.

Going to the Palm Springs area where it will be sunny and 80 degrees. NYE we'll be having steaks at Mortons and then headed to the hotel bar/nightculb where we reserved a table for our group. I hope to squeeze in a cigar in between, so it will have to be something on the smaller side. I'm thinking about a Hoyo Piramide 2003 LE. I sampled one of these from the few I have remaining a few months ago and it was outstanding. I'll likely pack a few more smokes as well in the travel humi and hopefully there will be the ability to smoke somewhere around the hotel pool.
