Nino Posted December 13, 2011 Author Posted December 13, 2011 Awesome! Nino, I can't access FB from work. Is this going to be published in Spanish, English, combo? Just guessing here : combo English/Spanish.
compitaveggie Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 Saw it on his facebook page, sounds cool. Supposed to ship in March.
IcedCanuck Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 $100 for that book? I think not. I'd be interested in it if it retailed for a more reasonable price ... that price seems a little a lot ridiculous to me. I haven't paid that much for a book since my College days.
BrotherBear Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 As a fundraising tool, I can see the price being on the upper plateau but within the range that many enthusiasts would pay. I would count myself among those willing to pay the $100 to help support the fundraising efforts of Amir & friends. Thanks for the heads on on this Nino!
compitaveggie Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 Cost is relative. Most coffee table books average $100. Moreover, if it's for a good cause, why not. X2
riazp Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 i'm defenitly up for paying 100$ for a book on my favorite Marca, count me in
FrankBlack87 Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 sounds good. im down. coffee table books usually do run expensive.

HydroRaven Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 As much as I enjoy Partagas, for $100, I'll wait and see what's actually in the book before committing to it. But I think the idea and the cause are both honourable.
cottierm Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 Email sent as well here. Thanks for the reference Nino. Best, Michel Email sent!

I made this 'discovery' when he contacted me earlier this morning (Toronto time). I am sure he and I will have many occasions to chat about CC. OldCubanCigarStuff Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Thanks Nino, appreciate the exposure. To respond to some of the questions poised: Yes, it looks like it will retail for about $100. It is over 200 pages, premium paper, cover and printing. That along with the shipping are the biggest contributors to the cost. Also, many of the researchers, writers, photographers, translators, editors and other contributors were paid for their services. All in all, in order to cover expenses and be able to make a proper contribution to the museum, that is the neighbourhood it will fall in. It may be cheaper, there is a certain printing volume which, if met, will lower the per unit production costs greatly enough to effect the final suggested retail price. That is why I am not actually processing orders or asking for any payment at this time. If there is sufficient demand the suggested retail will be lower. The book is both English and Spanish in the same volume. Many people have put in many hours of volunteer services into this project and at the end of the day I hope all will be as proud of it as I am. It is not meant to be an academic, all encompassing history of one brand but an entertaining book exposing some known and some unspoken about points of the history of Partagas as a brand, corporation and the Cuban cigar world of the period. Liberally illustrated with images from many private collections around the world as well as the Partagás archives, the collection of the Museo del Tabaco in Havana. I hope people find it interesting and enjoyable. If anyone has any questions, you can direct them to me at [email protected] Thanks for the opportunity to expose the project and answer questions. Amir
mk05 Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Thanks Amir! We're really looking forward to it!
