My friend, Edumndo Dantes, just arrived from Mexico. Check out this nastiness. The pic on the front of the box is clearly intended to imply a little girl standing over her dead father (who strangely is wearing wool gloves -- may be a Mexican custom). The vendor tried to cut off the most offensive part of the sticker by slicing the sticker in half, leaving nasty, exposed glue on the top of the box. The sticker on the bottom of the box contains all sorts of warnings about heart and vascular disease, that smoking can cause a heart attack and that cigars contain Toulene, which is "used as a potent toxic paint thinner" (they do?). I didn't realize that the fun police had made their way south of the border to such an extreme.

Interesting ... the boxes at the duty free shops in the Cancun airport did not have any stickers on them. I wonder why some places have to put them on and others do not.

The Mexicans do not care if gringo tourists get Montezuma's Revenge, why would you think they care about heart disease?

Holy Hell, does that actually work as intended???

If they are gonna do that they should have to atleast use depictions that were caused strictly by cigar use. Anything else is just suggestive and potentially misleading.

What's next they gonna put a picture of rosie o'donnell on my big Mac box?

Wait, that might actually work

The box I got had the image cut in half also. I am trying to decide what is uglier, the corpse or the glue left behind...

Rub that glue off with your thumb. Take two minutes.

So the new stickers should be something like this?

"WARNING - Do Not Smoke Cigars... or you could be as rich, successful and happy as me"

Love to hear back from you on the source of these in a PM.

I hope the toluene thing is false. I used that stuff in the military and they banned it after they found it caused kidney failure. It would clear out a hanger in a minute and will peel the paint/varnish/chrome/anything it touches off in a matter of seconds.

Toluene has been measured in Cigarettes before, but as far as I know, never in cigars. It's all part of the campaign to lump all tobacco products together regardless of what they are or how they're used.

Here's a little reference I found that shows no measure of toluene in cigars.

That being said, we used to use it to wash our hands even with the warning (add to the list of dumb things I've done). But then again I've had over a dozen kidney stones since. I still use it when I need to strip something. Can't help it. It's hands down the best(worst?) thing to use.

Sad thing is they have covered up the box code and date on the bottom with that nasty sticker. I would use a hair dryer and some citrus oil and remove all those ugly stickers from your boxes. Just takes a little time and patience.

That sounds like a project for this weekend!

I wonder if I can use Toulene to remove the stickers from my boxes?

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I have to admit, my favorite activity when I get a new Czar box in is seeing if, ever so slowly and ever so carefully, I can peel off the stickers without leaving anything behind.
