riazp Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Dan Wheldon passed away in a 15 car crash during the Vegas 300 in indycar. RIP.
Schumi5 Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Very sad news. RIP Dan. The newscasts naturally are showing lots of footage from his Indy win earlier this year. From the highest of highs to the lowest of lows. If nothing else, he did die doing what he loved.
rckymtn22 Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Very sad as he had a wife and 2 young kids. RIP Dan
bc8436 Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Just crazy .... makes you wonder if it's time for open wheel racing to reconsider the safety of oval tracks. RIP
Squarehead Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 A sad day for car-racing.Due to the fact that those drivers put their lives on the line every time they climb into their racecars our cars got a lot saver. RIP Dan.
Puros Y Vino Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Scary stuff. As great as the safety technology is in these cars is there will always be crashes that drivers can't walk away from. This reminds me of the 1996 Toronto Indy fatality of who appears to have been cut off then launched into the fence. RIP Dan.
Orion21 Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Such a tragedy. A wife and two young boys of 2yrs and 7 months. It's heart breaking to imagine the agony his family is feeling and will feel forever. It brings a tear to my eye to know those two little people will never see their dad again. Please tell your families how you feel as much as possible. I make it a point to never leave the house without kissing my wife and son while telling them how I feel about them every morning. It is easy to take life for granted and this is just another example of why you need to love your families every single day with every ounce of energy you have. Tell them you love them as much as possible and be great husbands and fathers. You never know when your ticket is going to be punched...

Beautifully said Aaron, I agree 100%, same with me, I make a point to tell my wife and son that I love them everyday.
mikec Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 It's just totally gutting what happenend in Vegas yesterday. Such a bright rising star in Indy car with a second chance to shine next year with the Go Daddy Andretti team snuffed out too soon. I think they may have to think twice about racing on these one and a half mile banked stack car tracks. I bet Vegas will be off the schedule next year after this tragedy.
ptrthgr8 Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Definitely a sad day - thoughts and prayers are with the family. It's been a rough year for sports teams/athletes. ~ Greg ~
