Wow. I just had a fresh cigar rolled in Victoria, BC, by a Cuban roller. I had a little chat with him in my rough Spanish but neglected to catch his name. If anybody has been by this weekend and knows, please post. Anyway, he rolled some fresh cigars without any press, using the 'tube method' of rolling/twisting each kind of leaf into tubes and then wrapping the bunch with a binder and wrapper all at once.

Cool to see.

Anyway, the thread about flying pigs made me jump on these, as they were dark, oily, pigtail capped and shaggy footed... maybe toro sized (say 56 rg by about 6 inches but a bit spongy due to not having been pressed in the jig/vice). It's great to see the workmanship and meet the roller.

I have to say they started out smelling like leaves from the lawn but became very interesting about an inch or two in. We smoked on the deck of a boat/yacht my friend is tending, under a still night sky, telling tales while my wife and son slept below. Simply great. Hard to describe but reminiscent of roasted mushrooms, dark coffee and all sorts of rich Cuban flavour.

I'll try to attach pictures from another browser; the iPad doesn't seem to work.

Did you catch these, ChanceSchmerr?

Those were Hamlet's robusto extras with the shaggy foot. They're definitely worth hoarding. They smoke beautifully fresh and apparently the tobacco he used is from 2006. When I went to visit him rolling here in Toronto, the aroma of the leaves on the table was intense.

When will he come to Montreal?!

Don't think he is Shlomo...

Anyone got anymore of these left available from Hamlet's visit??

There was a stash at the LCDH but Hamlet took them out West. He is coming back soon so we can probably grab some more. How many would you like?

Another 4 to 6 of the robusto extras with the shaggy foot (presuming they are the same blending that he used for our MegaHerf - he did say he went with the standard Partagas blend, correct??).

No..standard Vegueros blend. :P I'll see what I can do. Art seems to know his schedule. I'll check with him.
