reetings all,

apols for my absence on the forum of late and not getting through as many new reviews and so forth as we would wish.

just back from the yarra, the wonderful seminars they hold every two years.

now on way to kiwiland to have a look at the latest brancott wines and their new visitor centre. gather it is a bit special. and apparently we might find ourselves near some game or something (actually in the stumbling wombat lounge with a very large bloody mary as i type this and, of course, wearing my wallaby jersey). bloke at the desk said, 'where are you off to, mate?'. "take a wild guess". apparently that is not considered as amusing in qantas-speak.

have to applaud my driver. the western freeway was a 20 mile parking lot as a big accident. no way i would have made this flight however, as the fire brigade raced thru, sirens blaring, he zipped in behind them and tailgated them right up to the accident and then ducked through. no one else allowed through. i reckon we passed 2,000 stationary cars. WAY TO GO, DRIVER!!

after i get back from nz, almost straight to the barossa for a couple of days. back a bit then some videos for SB in central victoria. then have the annual holiday - yes, the rest of it is work - off to fraser island fishing with mates for a week. back one day then to sydney for a petaluma tasting. next morning off to madrid and rioja for a few days (main concern is finding a tv to watch the semis on). then across to champagne for the best part of a week, then to chablis and burgundy for a while and then paris and home. that takes me into november and with luck, that is the travelling for the year.

so if you do not hear from me all that much, apols but it is all in the name of seeking out some top wines and stories for you guys. i'll have a heap of reviews and more to load.

That's an old picture of Ken that's popped up now and again. It's from his touring days with Freddie Mercury, when they were known as "The *** Priest and the 3M Electrical Tape Man", doing side-show magic/music/variety show acts.

finnaly on the forum after ages. cannot believe you posted that photo! thank you piggy for something more appropriate.

the first one is from a long time ago. about to head off to a fancy dress new year's eve, from memory. tho to be honest, i did occasionally use that get-up whenever i went hitching. amazing how quickly you'll get a ride. but they do like to chat (and horrifyingly, even occasionally confess). what used to be bizarre was that people would ask for advice about things that a preist would have no idea about. one bloke on a train once insisted i tell him whether he should become a policeman or a weatherman.

strange world.

the other bloke is a good mate of mine from pommyland who now works in japan.

and anyone miffed by the get-up, well as far as i am concerned, religion finally flushed itself last week when a kiwi preist (yes, i know it sounds like an oxymoron) put up a painting of jesus in an all black jersey in his church. if there really is a god, guess who is not winning the cup!
