Dick-swinging on Facebook

So a good friend and classmate just posted a sad picture of 6 bottles of "booze" and a can of beer thinking he's the dogs bollocks and tagged me in it. So I decided to retaliate and beef things up a bit.

Now I'll be the first to admit this is a huge poser picture. I'm not even that heavy of a drinker (I usually pair a cigar with water....) But the fact that he was showing off like that rubbed me the wrong way

Anyway, as it's kinda cigar related I thought I'd share it. On a FOH note, I received the RA Gigantes & box of Superiores from Czar earlier this week and my gf brought it in today.

I don't do Farce Book. I relate Farce Book to a group of people that want to be discovered by the entertainment industry. No offense meant to anyone, I am just negatively biased about it. Living in an "industry" town, where every cute kid has got head shots of him dressed in fashion clothes wearing makeup, with his/her name printed on the bottom, perhaps you can see why I am jaded.

On the other hand there are enthusiast forums such as this one. Here we call boastful pictures of cigars, cigar porn. I find cigar porn wholly acceptable.

I must confess - but the regular use of the nickname "porn" on cigar forums has always irked me. I don't know why, as I'm generally the kind of person who doesn't care about such trivial stuff... one of my many shortcomings perhaps?

I study in another part of the world then where I grew up in, so Facebook is a great way to stay in touch with a lot of friends that are now spread all over the world. Plus half of schoolwork and meeting are discussed on Facebook so anyone without FB would have a big disadvantage and would have to go through a lot of trouble to catch up.

I agree that some people use Facebook as a platform to show the world how great they are, but those people are just as loud and extravert in real life. And like real life, sometimes you need to sift through the dirt to find some gold.

I absolutely love twitter. I don't post anything on it, but follow quite a few sportswriters. It's a fantastic way to get updates on teams I follow. The information is relayed very quickly and is very concise (due to the 140-character limit).

I follow a bunch of people on Twitter like Stephen Fry, Jonathan Ross, Anthony Bourdain. But as a fan of those guys, it's really sad to see that even THEY mostly post useless crap and uninteresting thoughts they think should be shared with the general public. Twitter is way too free a platform for people to use unrestricted. The biggest mistake ever made was link Twitter with FB so that tweets are shown on people's wall...... I had to block a bunch of people because they'd write what they had for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day, that's really just not useful information for anyone

I agree that all the best news and updates come from twitter nowadays, but I much rather have someone else read through all the other tweets and collect the useful ones for me to read a couple of days later, than agitate myself by having to read all the mindless random things people have to say.
