Van55
What you didn't say is that the article in the PDF file is from May of 2002. A little google search found it for me. I don't suppose much, if anything, has changed since then. What is also interesting to me is the number of vendors who are selling private label "custom rolls" that are almost certainly the product of similar shenanigans. laficion
Great info, thanks for sharing. My last visit in Havana,2007, my Guide, who is well known in Havana, took me to a big counterfeit workshop, ( with their permission of course),where all the brands were being made . It was really ..........well.............VERY IMPRESSIVE.

El Presidente
Van I was going to say that a whole new level to the trade has developed since then. Yes, there tens of thousands in Cuba who make their money on rudimentary fakes. There is a small Clique who have perfected it to an art form. Perfect boxes, perfect looking cigars (including LE wrappers for LE fakes), perfect bands. Europe is the destination with significant quantities back into Asia and elsewhere. Highly professional including bulk shipping. The trade has been halted somewhat with the arrest of the HSA VP and minnions.

TM-US
Fascinating stuff- I wonder how many fakes are sold at legit cigar vendors unknowingly?
