How things have changed

Recommended Posts

I just found an old post from The Pres back in January 2006 about the current production of Habanos S.A. and seeing the number of deletions of some of the best cigars in the line just put into perspective what a lot of you are saying about the strange and horrible decisions they have been making as of late.

This is the complete list of 2006 production as posted by the Pres over here: http://www.friendsofhabanos.com/forum/inde...amp;hl=majestic

Notable mentions all the Partagas SDC, almost all of the Diplomaticos, half of QUAI D'ORSAY, all of ERDM except Choix supreme, and all of Los Status de luxe (don't know if they were any good, but I always liked the brand name :))

*One: Boy are you PATIENT to put ALL this stuff down at once like this!!

Second: The Los Statos DeLuxe holds a special place of nostalgia in my heart because this was the first Cuban cigar I was able to find and acquire on my own. I have since found a site that offered a few for 5 box and singles. I acquired the 5 and still have about one or two left in my humidor just for comfort and memories sake :tantrum: They are also not bad little machine bunched cigars :surprised:

Wondering where a lot of these original members who replied to this '06 post are. Would be interesting to hear their perceptions on habanos now vs. 6 years ago. (Not that 6 years is a very long time but in terms of cigar years, there must have been hundreds if not thousands of cigars smoked by them in that time)

Sorry, not trying to hijack this thread.

2006 - 2010 has really been an excellent period....particularly compared to much of 99-05 (yes there were plenty of great cigars in this period as well).

If quality is a bell curve then 06-10 would be skewed to the right (quality) 99-05 to the left.

I know I know, still nostalgia reigns amok sometimes, and i miss the Partagas SDC!! And they have also come with things that I love, (those Partagas P1 from the jar are something else IMHO) so not everything is bad... :pig:
