I was at LCDH (Toronto) the other day and smoked my first monti No. 2 it was greate i must say but something did concern me as i was walking out of the humidor i was told that the prices where going up 4% across the board as far as i know the taxes haven't gone up has any other LCDH prices risen like this im not saying 4% is outrageous just a little unnecessary. but the cigar was great so it was well worth the money

Cigar prices/taxes in Canada are sickening compared to what you can get here for example...you must have paid close to $30 for that cigar?

sickening indeed, I think we need to start our own Cigar Rights of Canada like CRA. ya I payed over $30 for it when i could have gotten it for under 30 at another shop i go to

I'm going to be in Canada next month (Whistler and then Victoria). I thought it would be a perfect time to sample a few new cuban cigars. Then I checked out a few of the online sites in the areas (one of whom likes rob's pictures and cigar descriptions). Holy crap! How can anyone afford cigars in Canada? The taxes must be 400 or 500%! I think I'll take a few cigars with me for the trip. Sorry Canucks - no tax revenue from me. Hey, I like you guys otherwise!

in Ontario we have a tabacco tax of aprox.77.6% then there are other taxes and finaly 13% sales tax its ridicules but we live with it

Many of us live with it by not buying cigars in Canada. Its a shame to not support local vendors but what are you going to do? For the price of a nice box from the Czar I can buy 5 cigars at the LCDH in Vancouver.

LCDH in Toronto is pretty expensive. There are other shops in the surrounding area with slightly lower prices. As it is, I do a fair bit of singles hunting at local stores, but once I find something I like, I go online.

Yeah prices are outrageous in canada, but at least living in montreal our LCDH has a smoking lounge, at its sad to say but i'll pay 30-40$ for a cigar and a drink in order to enjoy a fine habanos in the cold winter months of montreal...but I know what you guys in toronto are saying, you cant smoke in your lcdh so whats the point of even going? lol

Ya i have to agree i do like to go buy singles to try and if i like it i find it online and get a box or pack of 5 but for things like DC's or churchills i often just buy one at a time

Anyone if there is a LCDH at Zurich airport in Switzerland?

Not as far as i am aware. No decent cigar selection either, unlike Geneva.

LCDH in Canada is ridiculously expensive, but it provides me with an opportunity to talk to a knowledgeable salesperson while actually smelling and looking at the cigars. It also allows me to smoke singles and give feedback so they know what I like and don't like.

I don't like paying the ridiculous taxes, but by doing that, at least I can find out what I really like and then order those by the box from the czar.

Being in the States, not so easy to try singles. Also, the LCDH in Montreal is pretty nice- I can have a nice smoke and a drink while I'm there. I'm usually there several times a week when I vacation up there.

Yeah the LCDH in montreal is the only one that has a smoking lounge...its hella expensive but like you said a great way to try singles before ordering a box. Marc, the Gm of the lcdh is a great guy who knows his habanos, always a pleasure to talk to and deal with
