laficion Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 Here is a quick tour of Paris filmed 35 years ago by film maker Claude Lelouch. He filmed this in real time with the camera attached to a race car at 5am. Today, if he tried again, he'd be going to jail for a very very long time. AHHHHHH, those were the days. Hope you'll enjoy the sights http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWVde1pWl24&feature=fvsr
riazp Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 the sound of that engine is just f'n gorgeous great video, thanks Guy
android Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 Have it on DVD...my brother in law and I have our Lelouch moment every yea after a gut busting Thanksgiving dinner. 55" Big screen and an amazing surround system...amazing.
mykeuva Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 Here's a video of a similar drive around Manhattan, and they mention Lelouche and reference his drive (and video):
shrink Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 Here's the car that was driven through Paris... a Ferrari 275 GTB. Magnificent, isn't it?
BobKincaid Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Scratch Paris off the bucket list! How could it be ANY more awe-inspiring?! Thanks for that, Guy. Just what I needed to get my blood racing on a lazy Sunday evening.
brutusthebuckeye Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Is that El Presidente tryin to get home in time to salvage what is left of his anniversary that he forgot ALL about???? He sure can drive that thing tho!!!!!
frenchkiwi Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 bah il devait connaitre le chef de la gendarmerie du coin... ;-) nice driving but relatively safe speeds except for red light intersections and narrow streets at the very end!! love that engine!
brian1 Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 The Lelouch video is fantastic...in fact the car used was a Mercedes as you can see in the pic below with audio of a Ferrari 275 dropped in later. The super speed effect is created by filming close to the ground. The reality is he was driving alot slower than it appears.
laficion Posted July 18, 2011 Author Posted July 18, 2011 brian1, Thanks for the up dates on this film, Yes, there seems to be a lot of myth about what car, who drove, what real speed etc. etc. I haven't seen the same story told twice. LOL LOL Anyway, what attracked me to this film was not so much the car or the speed but rather the sight of Paris 35 years ago, things have changed but not that much , except for the cars on the road.
brian1 Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Yes, I agree its a great film and has a nice vintage feel to it. brian1,Thanks for the up dates on this film, Yes, there seems to be a lot of myth about what car, who drove, what real speed etc. etc. I haven't seen the same story told twice.
