We've all heard the horror stories and some of us have even experienced them first hand. After reaching into the humidor for one of our favorite sticks, we discover the dreaded remnant of tobacco beetles! A moment later, we typically find the victim stick, which has been eaten from the inside out! A cigar lovers nightmare!

However, after reading the following story about an unfortunate Australian couple, who recently experienced their own personal nightmare of being "eaten from the inside out", I no longer feel that my fear of tobacco beetles infesting my stash is quite as bad as I once thought!

Horror as tiny worms with teeth attack Victorian couple

Lucie van den Berg From: Herald Sun July 05, 2011 12:00AM

A VICTORIAN couple endured a health nightmare after tiny worms with teeth began eating through their bodies.

It is the first time humans have been infected by the parasite in Australia.

It is believed the couple became ill after eating a fish they caught on a WA camping holiday.

Alfred hospital infectious disease physician Andrew Fuller said that when the couple ate the fish, believed to be a black bream, they also ingested the gnathostomiasis larvae.

"The worms are 1-3mm long and have got these sharp little teeth and they can go anywhere they like in the body," Dr Fuller said.

The worm works its way around the human body until it dies or is killed by the immune system.

"They move under the skin and cause itchy lumps that can make you feel sick - and it can be very hard to diagnose."

The infected couple suffered muscle pain, fevers, vomiting and their skin began to look like orange peel.

They were given antibiotics and have recovered.

The worms can stay in a human for 15 years, leaving people chronically ill.

They can make their way into the brain, other organs and the spinal cord.

"They eat your tissues," Dr Fuller said.

He had treated 28 people with the condition, who all contracted it overseas.

Neither of the latest patients had been overseas.

Dr Fuller sent samples of their blood to Bangkok.

The fish was caught in the Calder River, north of Derby, and the incident was reported in The Australian Medical Journal.

They should eat garlic, plenty of garlic dishes if the pure clove itself is too much for them. They can also seek out some herb capsules that contain black walnut hulls in powder form. That is a major parasite fighter. One of the reasons our foreign neighbors in India and Mexico, etc. have foods that are SO spicy is because of the regular occurrence of little bugs in the rice and corn meal they use as food. As some of these countries don't have both the refrigeration or the closer inspection and sanitation methods blessed in more developed and modern countries, the spices in their food act as natural parasite killers. Really feel for that couple. It's shivvery!!

Excuse me Lisa, but in México we don´t have tiny worms with teeth that eat through your body anymore than in the rest of the world :P although we have some problems in small towns in the more impoverished areas, that´s not the case in the majority of Mexico, and nowhere as bad as they´ve got it in India! come on! :D we have enough problems with drug related bad publicity in the world! Refrigeration and sanitation problems are not a problem over here, we have one of the biggest social security programs "IMSS" and "ISSSTTE" and you can find a refrigerator even in the poorest of houses.

Ok I´ll Admit there are cases of Taenia Solium (tapeworm) but only with street vendors and it´s not as bad as it sounds. And for the record, the water in almost all of Mexico is fine,, not talking out of my ass but by actually analyzing it, and if you happen to be in a place where you don´t trust water, there is plenty of evian and fiji available ;)

Sorry for the rant, please don´t hate me and send me my book Lisa :cigar::lol:

Yeah, I'm not Lisa. I'm Janet, and was not intending to point out just Mexico (and India, remember?) as anything but examples of places that did or used to have harsh parasite difficulties. Again, not intending to insult anybody. Also some of the info that gets to the rest of us about even more current and recent conditions in parts of the world do have to get through all the Paris Hilton/Lady Gaga/Lindsey Lohan/ad infinitum pop hype that masquerades as "news" that we have to sift through to get up to date real facts. Hey, sorry Man :)

And it´s official, I have worms in my brain  I could have sworn that I saw Lisa´s cat, and not Cigcars poodle! Sorry for the mix up Janet, and we have chatted in other occasions and I absolutely love your comments :P no need to be sorry about anything, I was just trying to point out that we are here, and most of Mexico, doesn't have worms with teeth (but it seems that I do have them and they already ate through most of my brain :foot: )

Sorry To Lisa, Janet, el president and the tooth worms :rotfl:
