Rob, what is your opinion of 2010 d4s with more aged leaf in them being rolled with non-aged leaf? Since they're not as harsh as d4s of yesteryear do they possess as much "legs" in your opinion? Of course this is with the assumption that harshness = indicator of legs. I had a friend saying he doesn't like this concept of old and new rolled into one cigar. Please take us to school Mr. Bus Driver.

yet to try the 898, but the d4 was my first real cc, and back then I tried it on an empty stomach... there was some kimbo slice (back yard brawler not the ultimate fighter) in that too... would not recommend the same experience.

that said, I have gotten accustomed to it. meaning that it doesn't hit me hard any more. my experience is that there was less strength with time. almost none with this stick... and much shorter than the 898

Strange, the burn should have been even with that much age. Usually happens when the cigar is young or storage of it has been upset with fluctuations in rh. You got a good friend (like mine).

I have not had the 898 but it's supposedly the strongest stick in the partagas line-up according to Rob. Young d4s are mild and they pick up power as they age like coros. A 3 year old d4 is right at medium-full body whereas young they're about medium to a touch under. Young they're not that exciting for me, flavors are muddled and not much depth/definition. They transform into cinnamon, spice, nutty goodness that is very signature of a d4. It's the perfect power level for me.

two factors here...

1) my toasting skills suck, and with the wind it wasn't helpful either.

2) your right, I didn't have it in a proper humi. it was just a single, so I had it in a couple of zip lock with a mikeshift humidifier. I know - sacrilege....
