Ghabanos Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 There was mention on another thread about Amsterdam and waking up in an alley to find out that one of your kidneys have been removed after a night of drunkedness reminded me of the movie hostel. If youre into a bit of gore this is a great movie and the story isn't something that I have seen before. First movie is really the only you need to watch IMO. Anyway hope you enjoy. I have recommended this movie to many before... Older production but pretty good for it's time...
MIKA27 Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Yes, I've seen this movie way back when it was released and it is quite different to other movies of a similar ilk. It also makes one wonder if such a thing could occur in light that there are many cases of people smuggling anyway throughout many baltic countries so you get the feeling of isolation when you watch this movie too.
docbp87 Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Oh come on... "Older Production" ? This movie is like 5 or 6 years old. Not even close to "older". Look at the list that Stefan has been making. Some of those films qualify as older (stuff from the 50's or before maybe). Also, all of the films coming out these days being labeled as the "Torture-Porn genre"... as a hardcore horror movie buff (everything from early 1960's giant radioactive insect movies to 1980s Troma, and certainly everything between), this stuff is all worthless junk. Eli Roth is a hack, Tarantino is half a hack... and don't get me started on SAW. If you want gross out exploitation flicks, see something that at least has something critical to say about modern culture other than the super thin veneer of social commentary that the Torture Porn garbage tries to hide behind, something like, say, Ruggero Deodato's "Cannibal Holocaust" or something with phenomenal visual complexity, and frankly flawless cinematographic composition, like a few of the segments in Mario Bava's "Black Sabbath". I know this post sounds preachy, but there are few things I hate more than crappy films.
ckile2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Awesome mixture of **** and torture.lol I thought this was much better then the Saw series and the final destination series.

It isn't a good film at all

KurtE Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 but u gotta admit there are a few scenes in cannibal holocaust that are pretty eye catching... Yeah of course, and I watched it to be shocked and that is about it. Obviously won't get into specifics but that rock scene wasn't pretty. I think Salò disturbed me more because of the concept and obviously it is graphic too.
CaptainQuintero Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 Salo is a fun film for sure not as good as the book but what films ever are? Ichi the killer is a great film to watch with the girlfriend/significant other too!
khomeinist Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 Tarantino a mixed bag. I actually enjoyed Basterds. The French film 'Martyrs' blows Hostel away. Roth needs to learn how to write a script. Ichii is amusing though I prefer 'Audition' and certainly 13 Assasins.

Ichi is great too, loved the surrealism in it. Can't say I'd watch with my significant other though

It isn't a good film at all an utter hack. there is no worse film ever than deathcar or deathrace or whatever he called that load of trash. i will never spend a cent on another of his films. got away with a couple of decent early films and then completely lost it. kermit the frog could do better. in fact, the possums in my garage have more talent in their rabid tails than that imposter will ever have. i would watch a test pattern before anything else he ever does. and if we didn't have such limits on this forum, i'd tell you what i really think.

Yeah that was an atrocious film but Pulp Fiction, both Kill Bills and Inglourious Basterds are all excellent movies. The opposite of what hollywood releases, intriguing stories and characters, quirky little things in them. I'm a big fan apart from Death race because ultimately his other films make up for it. And I think 500 days of summer is worse than death race
