CaptainQuintero Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 I've been away for a week getting sandblasted on a beach by the English spring so not sure if this has been posted yet but, on the 23rd of June at the Hunters and Frankau annual summer party (At the Langham Hotel) FDC is being brought back from the grave. 1200 cabinets have been made for the UK market (not sure about international regions). I realise most here are from down under so it may not be the most useful of infomation but, if you're nearby or have a friend who can get hold of them for you then this may be of interest for you
cigcars Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 *Hey, thanks a bunch for the info & update. I just recently bought a box of '98 cello Flor de Cano Selectos, and I've enjoyed them so far. A fellow smoker found them too heavy-bodied!!

Not sure I'd have much in common with the "networking stuffed shirts" that would go! wouldn't mind one of the flor de Cano....

I'm going, they can be a laugh, I think I posted a thread here about last year's event. This year it's sponsored by Pol Roger and there will be 2 fdc short robustos and 2 partagas E2s. I think I could have a decent stab at putting away £90 of Pol Roger..

To be honest, same here. I've watched videos of the Behike launch and although there obvously were some normal people there, the crowd they targeted (not including the retailers who all seem fun people) didn't seem like the type of people who I would normally enjoy myself with. The 'Eton laugh' was in the background everywhere. I'm sure they are fun if you go with the right people but they seem the opposite of the FoH / Australian cigar culture (ie warm and friendly). I could be wrong though

I could be wrong though I had a lot of fun at the Behike launch last year, though a few of us travelled over from Dublin and made a day/night/next day of it. It was much better than the Monte Open launch the year before. If you look at Suckling's CA video from the Behike launch, I'm the gimp talking to Ajay. The guy in the stripy suit with the behike gift looks like an utter wanker, but that's Rob Fox and he's really not all that bad. http://www.cigaraficionado.com/blogs/show/id/474 Actually one of those laughs at the end might have been mine. Here's the thread I put up here about last years event. http://www.friendsofhabanos.com/forum/inde...7&hl=Goring It depends who you meet on the night, there are groups there who do prefer to keep to themselves. Still plenty of friendly people though. As for me, I'll be up for a bit of craic.

Not sure how long 1200 cabinets will last though!
Chicago Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 Are they bringing back the short Churchill? Had a few many years ago but could never get my hands on a full box.

I'll have a camera and put up a thread here. Are they bringing back the short Churchill? Had a few many years ago but could never get my hands on a full box. It's a short robusto size, shorter than the Short Churchill but apparently Hunters have the slide lid box, green ink etc. organised. 1200 boxes, 30,000 cigars is plenty for a UK regional. There aren't that many people who will be interested in these, collectors and people who remember the SC yes, aside from that I don't know. Apparently after this year Habanos is changing the regional programme. No more than one cigar per distributer per year with a minimum of 50,000 cigars (Prez might know something about this). It's annoying because it means there is now just about no chance of an Irish regional.

This might be a bit misleading. La Flor de cano is a current brand, with two current cigars. This is UK's second Regional Edition for 2010 (a late release). http://www.cubancigarwebsite.com/brand.asp...La_Flor_de_Cano
