Is there a nonessential item in your home which you would not want to be without? I'm referring to an appliance or item that you really don't need, but something that really makes life easier and more enjoyable. For me, I'd have to say that it's my towel warmer. A warm, sometimes hot, towel after a shower in the morning just makes me ready for the day.

*It's our old non-working washing machine. Big heavy clunker, but a GREAT counter surface to work on!

My leatherman multi tool. On the odd occasion i do use it, its very handy, the blade is also excellent for cutting cigars

Dude! Me thinks you got the logons confused with Martha Steward's Living site. Hopefully you did not go reviewing the Monte Edmundo over there! She has a horror for men who wear hats in the house and if she sees you smoking she may loose the hounds on you! -Piggy

I thought about this long and hard, up until this post I thought I have no need for the Glock 19 I keep in the safe...

Might I suggest you get a 40 S&W! Friends don't let friends shoot mouse guns either!!! -LOL

Last night I needed to repair a light switch in the house, but I couldn't find a flathead screwdriver. It then dawned on me to use my Leatherman! Many useful tools in one!

I second the .40 cal. A good compromise round between the 9mm and .45

My smoker. "Non-essential" in the purest sense of the word, but what it does to a pork shoulder or rack of ribs or brisket is far and away beyond anything that can happen in a modern, conventional kitchen.

Then again, maybe that qualifies it as "essential," after all.

I never thought my Desert Eagle to be nonessential, just the Glock - LOL.

Liked the mouse gun analogy, but the glock will stop most people in close quarters...

following that will have to result to cigar breath :cigar:

The truth be told I own 2 Glocks in 9mm. The round is prolific and cheap to load. My real tiny Glock... I never rember the model numbers, will fit in my back pocket and is still shootable. I don't shoot the full frame 9 much as I do prefer the 40. I bought the 9 before they made 40's and it is kind of a funny story.

My ex-wife was at a job interview and she calls me from the interview. She says I can't believe this guy Ray he is exactly like you. He shoots, hunts, flies planes, loves boats, cars and he owns a gun range; here talk to him. We hit it off and she waited patiently as we talked a couple hours. I said so you gonna' hire my wife and he says done! Then he asks me to come out and shoot a Glock shoot at his range over the weekend. I say, "don't have a Glock." He says shoot mine! I ask if we can meet up the day before and let me hose 1000 rounds of my handloads through it. He says, why the hell not, bring some for me too! We meet up at his range and had a blast! We both brought our IPSC guns and shot a good part of the day. It was amazing we never met before as we had been shooting at the same events for sometime.

I call my buddy Dom and say Dom, get me a Glock... for tomorrow I am shooting it in a Glock competition. He is a big Glock fan, loving my 1911's I used to make fun of him and his plastic guns, and he says great I will have one this evening for you, can I go too?

The next day we all go to the shoot. Mike, my wifes new boss offers me the 9 that we shot the previous day and I say hell no, I got my own today!!! He said I thought you were kidding, I did not think you would actually go and buy one!

That is what got me into Glocks. While I still prefer the 40, my 9 takes up just a little foot print in the safe still. Does it shoot as nice as my old Browning Hi-Power? Nope. But I would much rather be shooting the Glock in a situation that required shooting back.

Never owned a DE. They were not around in my day of magnum hand gunnery. We did have the Automag and the Wildey. The Wildey is a whacky contraption but I still have mine, although I have not shot it in close to 20 years. -Piggy
