Croz71 Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 Hello to all I have just recently found the enjoyment of smoking cigars, around 6 months. My cigars have all been singles and all but 1 have been Cuban. For my 40th birthday last week I bought myself a box of Behike 52s from Rob and Lisa I have a quick question to ask all of u. I have a 50 cigar desktop humidor for my singles, now i want to buy boxes instead of singles, what is my best option? If there is anyone else from Perth that could give me some advice I would really appreciate it, Perth in summer is very hot and dry Congratulations on a fantastic and very informative website, I have learnt so much already from here and I love the weekly video reviews from Rob, Ken and Smithy Once again hello to everyone and i look forward to speaking to u all Cheers croz
CigarmanTim Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 Welcome aboard! I use a converted wine fridge to store my boxes.
Croz71 Posted May 15, 2011 Author Posted May 15, 2011 Thanks for the welcome CigarmanTim, thats the option im leaning towards. I dont think a coolidor will be able to keep the temp down low enough
bolivr Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 Welcome croz, there's a few guys in Perth on the forum that would be familiar with the challenges there. I have been able to take a cheap route with an old bar fridge not plugged in and sealed all the internal holes with silicon. This would be ok if you can keep a room airconditioned. Enjoy those Behikes!
Croz71 Posted May 15, 2011 Author Posted May 15, 2011 Thanks Bolivr, the behikes r having a little nap. i think i will try one in a couple of months then let them rest for a few years, if i can leave them that long
gigabyte056 Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 Welcome, This is a very good place to learn new things, meet good people and get heavily addicted to the collection and smoking of fine cigars. Work hard my friend, you will need the funds

Work hard my friend, you will need the funds Thanks mate, I'm getting hooked on collecting real quick. It eats up the funds that's for sure. At the moment I only have 19 stogies, I'm trying real hard to let them rest a little bit
dicko Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 Gday mate, Firstly, welcome! I'm from Perth. I use an esky filled with beads and boxes but the heat gets to it big time! I would definitely go the temp controlled option of a wine fridge!! The perth boys have herfs every now and then, you should come to the next cheers, Dicko

OZCUBAN Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 Hi Croz71 Another of the Perth clan here ,and i to reiterate what Dicko said in his reply, Yes the weather here is always a challenge for those who want to keep Cigars and especially at their best,i have gone the way of the wine fridge also, with some of the heartfelt beads as well ,still think i might need a tad more beads as the active refrigeration can be a bit savage ,with wild swings i RH but thankfully it recovers quiet quickly, now that the seasons are changing i have my fridge turned off at the minute and it seems to be doing all right ,suggest you look up some of the fine posts/articles written about this subject ,there is raft of knowledge here to draw on . As far as the next Perth get together it must be time to organise something before this glorious weather disappears, watch this space But all that said welcome aboard and above all enjoy what is a marvellous community Cheers OZ(Steve)
Croz71 Posted May 16, 2011 Author Posted May 16, 2011 Cheers for the welcome everyone I'm really enjoying reading all the older posts and learning so much Quick one for oz, do u think I should get a thermoelectric wine fridge? Also would be good to meet a few of the Perth boys Cheers croz
thechenman Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 Welcome to FoH. Enjoy the forum. For your climate I think a converted wine fridge would definitely be the way for you to go, unless of course you want to go higher end.
OZCUBAN Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Cheers for the welcome everyoneI'm really enjoying reading all the older posts and learning so much Quick one for oz, do u think I should get a thermoelectric wine fridge? Also would be good to meet a few of the Perth boys Cheers croz Hi Croz Mine is not thermoelectric but a regular Refrigerated model VINTEC with three big bags it is coping ,the problem being that when the fridge kicks temp and humidity plummet rapidly but do recover quick as well. It is doing the job at the Min but will modify in the future just to try and get it the best it can be,in the winter months i generally switch if off and with the beads it does OK BEWARE the more Cigars you possess the more paranoid you get about it Cheers Croz hope to meet up soon once we get of our arses and get to organising another event OZ
Croz71 Posted May 17, 2011 Author Posted May 17, 2011 Hi oz, thanks for the info mate. Like u said, it's winter so temp not a problem at the moment. But I need to look at something soon. I can't imagine what it would be like owning boxes and boxes, I'm stressed with just my 1 box of behikes Look forward to catching up with u boys Cheers croz
