Ghabanos Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 It may be elementary to some, but can somebody put in very sime steps how I can blow the smoke out my nostrils. I keep reading that it enhances the experience and would like to try but always fear that I would swallow the smoke instead.
Vortigan Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Jeez that's a damn good question! I do it and yes,I do think it enhances everything about smoking the cigar, but I've actually got no idea how to go about explaining it.I think there's a trial and error process to it for sure and you will no doubt inhale a little along the way.I'm thinking on my feet here but I guess you just try and ease some of the smoke back along your soft palette and exhale through your nose at the same time until you find the place where the two meet.Kinda like finding the clutch biting point in a manual sift car.I hope this at at least makes some kind of sense,I'm sorry if it sounds a little wooly.I'm sure there'll be many others who will be able to offer some much clearer help.Cheers, Mike
dicko Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 ^^I honestly learnt how to from that video. check it out! I love picking up new flavours through the nose, especially spice and cream!
coneatty Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 It's simple. Start out by deeply inhaling a few packs of Marlboro Lights. Close your mouth on the exhale, and it is going out your nose. Next, light up a Bolivar CE. Now, repeat what you did with the Marlboro Lights with that Bolivar CE, but keep your lungs out of it. Believe me....you'll figure it out real quick.
Ghabanos Posted April 28, 2011 Author Posted April 28, 2011 Not as worried about inhaling into lungs as I am swalowing into stomach... Will give it as instructed. Thanks a bunch...
Dbone Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 I've tried this on and off and most of the time it ends the same... with a sinus infection for a week. I do believe since our face is surrounded by smoke anyway, there is smoke inhaled through our nose which pick up additional flavors. I came to this conclusion after smoking a cigar while holding my nose close as if I was diving deep underwater. The cigar is very flavorless. Repeat the next draw without the plugged nose and tons of flavor is added. I'm sure there is even more additional flavors with a strong retrohale, and on really good cigars I will, but the smoke has to be very diluted. Mostly I pick up additional spices or smoothness. Example, sometimes the smoke is smooth on the tongue but spice out the nose.
BatFastard Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Inhale smoke into mouth, close mouth, exhale through nose. It's that easy.
Cig Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 I came to this conclusion after smoking a cigar while holding my nose close as if I was diving deep underwater. That is some field research right there. That man wanted an answer! When I first read your post I though you were saying you smoked an entire cigar while holding your nose! Then I read further and saw that it was only for a moment. It was a funny visual.
bob25 Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 I do it all the time since I saw Rob in one of his video reviews doing it and I decided to try it. It helps picking up new flavors while smoking, you should try and see.
Dbone Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Inhale smoke into mouth, close mouth, exhale through nose. It's that easy. Another technique for the beginner. Bring smoke into mouth, blow a small bit out, then CHEW the smoke as if you where chewing food. It will happen on its own

Lol that would be one way to get an answer and prove it!
anacostiakat Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Once you begin to exhale through your nose you will experience all kinds of accents. You will find it enhances your smoking experience. However you will also find that something is missing when you do not do it. I enjoy it and recommend it. It really is just holding some smoke in your mouth and pushing it out your nostrils.
bc8436 Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Exhaling through the nose really brings out flavors in a cigar that can't be detected otherwise.
