CBL Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 I wanted to smoke a nice big cigar today, something that would last me a couple of hours while I watched some episodes of CSI:NY & Las Vegas. The two biggest cigars in my humidor are both Sublimes: a Bolivar Libertador and the LGC Inmensos (POL SEP 10) I paired the Inmensos with a 12 year old Flor de Cana, CSI running in the background. The cigar was very soft to the touch, but the foot looked nice and full. After clipping the cigar shows it's weakness, a extremely loose draw, which makes me assume there will be huge amounts of smoke. The cigar has a light floral smell to it which is very sweet. CSI:NY - 20:00. The usual, two dead bodies. Right from the start the cigars shows a mild and dry taste and the loose draw actually works with a cigar this size. The amount of smoke isn't as extreme as I expected, instead I'm shown light clouds dancing in front of me every time I exhale. The first few puffs are delicious toasted bread, which reminds me of a Trinidad Robusto T (another young and mild cigar) The smoke is really creamy and almost melts on my tong. There's a faint taste of cappuccino coming through, by which I mean there're some light coffee notes and something that reminds me of steamed/whipped sweet milk. The ash is a little flakey, but has a nice white/light grey shade. Meanwhile the CSI team catch the killer. It was the ex-husband CSI: Las Vegas - 21:00. Another body found. This one is shredded. I'm impressed at how well this cigar smokes at such a young age and the blend is pretty well chosen, but with the lack of evolution in taste I'm yet to stay impressed. The cigar needed a few little touch ups throughout the smoke, but the burn is pretty decent non the less. The initial tastes stay the same during the entire two hours, which is a little disappointing and sadly boring. The crime lab lays down the law on another bad guy! (it was actually a woman) And I lay down my cigar when it finally reaches another stage in tastes, which sadly is a bitter one that ends the cigar's life. Like CSI this cigar was entertaining enough, but I wonder what's the point if you KNOW what the ending is going to be like? The cigar had no plot twists, no surprise endings and didn't take me on a special journey. This is a nice background cigar, something to smoke when you have interesting company around to talk to or when you're doing something that allows you to forget about what you tasted minutes ago I'd love to know if these have any aging potential, as the presentation and marca would suggest, but it's such a linear smoke that I doubt it will prove to become a taste explosion. I guess Piggy's right and such big RG cigars are a waste of tobacco 2
ksblazer Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Thanks for sharing your review and pic's with us. I've been curious how the Immensos were smoking. This is the first review I've gotten to read about them.
maverickdrinker Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 Thanks for the review. Been wondering about these and trying to decide to add them to the list. Sounds like a pass....
khomeinist Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 Yup. I will take a LGC MDO 1 anytime over one of these. Good background cigar is an excellent way to damn with faint praise. I totally agree......

MDO no.1 versus Inmenso? enjoyed an Inmenso tonight - floral garden in the first two thirds, (the pre-release had more Partagas notes)
khomeinist Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 MDO no.1 versus Inmenso? enjoyed an Inmenso tonight - floral garden in the first two thirds, (the pre-release had more Partagas notes) Yes Leo. Perhaps an atypical opinion.... but that is my story..... etc I find the Inmenso disappointing.... and I am a supporter of the LGC marca. Let me add the massive caveat that these were just released and may become more interesting with time. I should also say that I have only sampled from one box..... etc....

If you can find them like this they are well worth it.

Inmensos are young - on the same page with you, Patrick But, it really shines compared to the Swiss Triunfos '10 LGC Inmenso's ash:
CBL Posted April 27, 2011 Author Posted April 27, 2011 Thanks for the great review. Just wanted to say I've got some with dark oily wrappers that are excellent out of the box. If you can find them like this they are well worth it. Ow but mine tasted fine straight out the box, the only downfall was that it was 2 hours of linear taste. Like I said, if it was a robusto or, even better, a petit robusto it wouldn't have been such a drag. This is clearly an occasional cigar. But sadly, sitting on the couch and wanting to concentrate and analyze a cigar isn't the right occasion

I appreciate the review and steering clear of the Immenso's for now. I want a journey as you put it in a cigar of that size. Very nicely done and great photos. Thanks brother.
habanohal Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 I havent opened the box yet. Will wait till I catch up on my weeds series on the deck
tmac77 Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 I have a box of these yet to be opened. Sad to hear that these did not offer up a better journey for such a large cigar. This has not been my experiance with other Vitola's from the LGC line. Hopefully they will develop a bit better over time.
Lotusguy Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 I still haven't broken open my box... letting them sit a good long while in the back of my humi.
Lotusguy Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 Oh well - couldn't resist any longer and had the first one of my box tonight. I must say, I am extremely impressed. Much better than my Tainos. On the light side of medium with a very floral and sweet taste but also a quite noticeable saltiness on the lips (haven't really experienced that before). Two thumbs up from me!! I paired it with water so to not overwhelm the subtleties of the cigar and it was the right choice. I just wish they were a thinner gauge since I find 54 to be quite unwieldy.

brownpeter335 Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 This is one of my favorite cigar. I love it,s rich aroma and flavor.
ErikB Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 Hello, just wondering how is the cigar smoking after 4 yrs? please share. thanksPeople who find the LGC Immensos boring are probably not on this forum anymore after four years
jimsta10 Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 People who find the LGC Immensos boring are probably not on this forum anymore after four years Your thoughts on the Immensos? Was thinking of buying a box for aging. Thanks
ErikB Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 Your thoughts on the Immensos? Was thinking of buying a box for aging. Thanks I smoked one a couple of weeks ago - I still think about it every single day. Magnificent. 1
Puros Y Vino Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 Just had my first one a month ago. It was stellar. Definitely worth stocking up on.
nikesupremedunk Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 I have a box from '12 I believe. Smoked a few, wasn't feeling it, traded away a couple. Have about 4 left and I think I'll just let them sit for a while. Overall a huge disappointment, IMO LGC is meant to be <42 RG, not a 54 RG like its NC counterpart. Give me LGC MdO 1's all day any day.
Akela3rd Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 Bump! I have the chance to get my hands on a box of these next month and was wondering what the current opinion is of the Immensos. They're on a 5000 boxes a year production so has anyone had a recent buy or had one from a previous run? How are they aging? Worth a punt?
