A schmoke and a pancake!

post-6983-1302653478.jpg

Arabic coffee, sourdough pancakes from a starter I've given my love and attention for the past months and a beautiful Diplomaticos No. 4. All while studying for my midterm this afternoon!

It's hard being a student ;)

That looks like a pretty nice spread there. My college cuisine consisted more along the lines of pizza, ramen and Natural 'Natty' Ice.

Austin Powers: A what?

Goldmember: A shmoke und a pancake. You know, a flapjack und a shigarette? No? Shigar und a waffle? No? Pipe und a crepe? No? Bong und a blintz? No? Well, then there ish no pleashing you.

Austin Powers: That's not right...

Never found the time to actually make my own food in college...there just wasn't enough time between ditching class and getting drunk.

That's a nice looking pizza. If I was back in Taiwan now, I'd be eating 'beef noodle soup' and Din Tai Fung non-stop LOL

Awesome! No matter what I whip up, there's not a lot of food that can beat the awesomeness of Din Tai Fung ;)

Damn Din Tai Fung...I can tast those soup dumplings now. Heading back to Cali for Easter...there is a Din Tai Fung in Alhambra, but it does not even come close to the on in Taipei. The pork just tastes totally different, and the soup in the U.S. has a different texture to it.

Joe's Shanghai in NYC isn't that bad, I usually go there for my soup dumplings fix since you can't find them in Boston.

I agree with your sentiments about the Alhambra location. Even the 'skin' feels a bit different.

Yeah...I'll hit Joe's in Chinatown or in Flushing if I'm headed to Queens to visit the in-laws. I'd have to say they are probably the best soup dumplings I've had stateside, but still don't hold a candle to Din Tai Fung.
