OK...I hate my Ipad and am about to flick it.

I am sure it is fine as a reading/browsing slate but It has too many limitations for me as a basic work device (and basic is all I was hoping for). To be honest, I hate it and that is no reflection on the people who love it. If I can't open up multiple screens readily, have a filing system, copy and paste into a forum easily, have decent e-mail as opposed to e-mail "Lite", a stylus....can't be hard, then it is long way from useful to me. Any Brisbane/Sydney boys pick up a top of the range I-pad for a great price!

So looking for a 12-13 # tablet laptop with a outdoor capable screen which is also touch/interactive. Looking at Fujitsu Lifebook P770 currently but happy to consider any alternatives you may have.

Thanks for your help!

I don't know about Oz, but in the U.S. we have Apple stores where you can go and check these things out before you commit.

Perhaps we can take Paulie's advice and "put a sticker on it - not suitable as a basic work device".

Or then there's uncle chop chop.....

Take a look at the HP touchsmart products. They have been putting out a solid touchscreen for a few years now, and Win7 just makes it money. Mac's are nice to make a pretty picture show or read a book, but you'd be better off with a smith-corona if you need to get any work done.

Woah. You hate the IPAD???

god damn.

sell it to me, rob. serious. ship it over to me with my next order of cigars, i'll pay a good second hand price for it.

The Ipad hasn't reached Malaysia's shores yet, and by the looks of the production problems apple are having, it'll be many moons till it does.

Trying to cut and paste an article into a new thread was the straw that broke the camels back.

They are not productive work devices. I have one and it works great on the go. Email lite is all you get. Not great if you ned to type more than 5 words in any app. Not supposed to repalce a laptop.

I too vote for the recent HP stuff. Both my desktop and my laptop are the recent HP stuff, both with the big widescreen monitors, and the outdoors capability of my laptop is great. Very good stuff from them recently.

Whatever Ken uses seems to be working. Perhaps you should consult the Master Ken!!! - :D About the iPad. You should tell people exactly what chemicals were used to clean off the barbecue stains and beer vomit! Some counties may consider the device toxic!!! Better stick some of those missing teeth, black lung picture stickers on the back just to be sure the customs people know it is from Australia and not Yemen. -

If you are an Apple believer, go to the store and check out new Macbook Air. Portable, slick, and will do what you need.

Will have a look but prefer a Tablet laptop for presentations.

I'm looking forward to the BlackBerry Playbook. Not sure if it meets your needs and it's always a bit tricky with a new release, but for business purposes they seem to have their stuff together.

I only use my iPad for casual web browsing, light email usage, those types of things. Anything more in depth and I break out the laptop.

We have these stores here as well, but the way Rob shops is more like seeing how quickly he can get in and out of a store while purchasing something. Lisa and I always wait with baited breath to see what Rob returns with when he says I am going to go and buy something. :tantrum:
