LateApex Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Had an '08 over the weekend and thought it was fantastic, given the price point. Not a "special" cigar, but very enjoyable for the money...
Rehman Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 I love this little cigar. Never liked PCs before; felt they were for people too impatient or busy to spend an hour enjoying a cigar. Then I learned the pleasant way that the best petit coronas are made to be exactly what they are - not miniature versions of full-sized cigars. The Por Larranaga does this very well to my taste. Some PCs (Bolivar, Partagas Aristocrat) seem almost to beef up their strength to compensate for their size - they put me in mind of midget weightlifters: mighty mites. The PLPC is a coquettish charmer in comparison.

Quint Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 When these are on one of the most flavorful cigars out there for their price point IMO. I've found that sometimes they are excellent with one yr on them then another cab needs 3-4 yrs to smoke good. Not sure why. I got some 2008's that were excellent with 11 or 12 months on them and some 2009's that were horrible with the same time on them.
Montaigut Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Just had one from my newly opened cab EMA DIC 08. The first thing that struck me was how heavy and dense it was for a cigar of this format. I thought for sure it would be a plug but lo and behold the draw was perfectly acceptable. Opening was very sweet, mild spices and hints of maple. As it progressed it moved towards burnt caramel, but always sweet and the hints of spice getting stronger. This was a very pleasant surprise to me. Definitely a keeper in the humidor.
JY0 Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 It is my go to PC as well. Perfect mid-morning stick with a cup of Turquino.
Poniboy Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 Enjoying a PLPC right off the truck. I smoked a trinidad coloniales prior to the plpc and sweetness and smooth silky smoke of the pl is incredible. The box date on the trinidad is 08 the pl is 10. It is hard to believe they will get better with age, i am not sure i can keep the cab around too long.
goalie204 Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 I'm smoking through some 07s that are amazing, the 08s funnily enough aren't anywhere as close
cellinisart Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Garbage...... If they carried the sweetness in EVERY stick they would be great but they don't (even the aged stock). So once again you buy a whole 50 cab to get 10 good cigars. Save your money gents.
bassman Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 04s & 05s still very tannic. BPCs are wonderful young and aged.
Lotusguy Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 The first one from my Mar 2011 cab was already great so I guess I must have gotten one of the 10 good ones then
Smallclub Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Garbage...... If they carried the sweetness in EVERY stick they would be great but they don't (even the aged stock). So once again you buy a whole 50 cab to get 10 good cigars. Save your money gents. My opinion exactly. And I'll add that the PLPC is not exactly the best rolled mareva…
Quantim0 Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 I just pulled out my cab to check on yesterday and I was looking at the feet for some reason. Never mind the questionable consistency, some of the feet still have a green tint to the leaves which makes me think they didn't quite ferment them long enough. I can only assume those few will never really taste great. I may take one apart to see what's up.
davidl Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Garbage...... If they carried the sweetness in EVERY stick they would be great but they don't (even the aged stock). So once again you buy a whole 50 cab to get 10 good cigars. Save your money gents. Unfortunately, I am with you on this. Consistency has been less than inspiring with this cigar - in my experience. I have only bought one box....maybe it was just a fluke..
cckandb24 Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Not quite sure who to believe on this. Just ordered a cab but hasn't arrived. We have 20 who love it and 4 or 5 who think its a garbage pc
JY0 Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Put me in the plus column. It's an everyday smoke for me. I've gone through 4 cabs this year, all excellent. I've had '08, '09, and '10....all good.
cellinisart Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Good read I think I will start a thread on my next thought...
RNasr Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Put Me on The Love List working my way through an 07 Cab marvelous Smoke that has custard texture to it
coneatty Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 I'm working on my 2nd cab of plpcs. Put me in the "undecided" category. Good but not great. I had an '08 plpc after lunch today, and it only served to remind me how great this Partagas Short is that I'm smoking right now.

We have 20 who love it and 4 or 5 who think its a garbage pc That' probably normal for any "great" cuban cigar. I only had one cab...definitely not enough for me to say it's a bad cigar....just had a bad first experience.
bstarrs Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 I'm still working through my first cab of PLPC which is from MAR10 if I remember correctly and so far I have been reasonably impressed with them. Enough so that I will be buying another cab to rest while I finish up this one. Good bang for the buck so far.
eman67 Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 I smoked through a cab of 07 PLPC's and only had one that had a tight draw. These are fantastic. I also have some 01's and they too are great! The BEST PC.
Dbone Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 Great little smoke for me. A must have for myself, and a regular in rotation.
