Stalebread Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 LINK "It was a sort of “Candid Camera” experiment, inspired by the suggestion of city officials that Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg’s proposal to ban smoking at city parks, beaches and outdoor plazas would be enforced not just by the police and parks agents, but by ordinary citizens asking other citizens to do their civic duty to just stop smoking."
MrGlass Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 That is ridiculous. If things keep up like this, pretty soon they're going to be trying to regulate what I eat for lunch.
CigarZen Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 That is ridiculous. If things keep up like this, pretty soon they're going to be trying to regulate what I eat for lunch. Excuse me, is that your second drink ... don't you think you should stop? A: No, it's my 5th -- and leave me alone! Geez; thanks simply nuts. What's next? Excuse me Sir, that steak is a bit on the fatty side.
laficion Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Lets push this just an inch further. Excuse me Sir, It seems that you've past the age of 70, So don't you think you should leave us now instead of imposing yourself on society ? Well thank you sir, that is a good question, I shall give it a thought at home while I'm smoking my cigar and drinking my wine. Again, Excuse me for this inconvenience
n2advnture Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Just like guns kill people, spoons make people fat. Where does the infringing of personal rights stop?

coneatty Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 As a newbie, allow me to post the following quote: "Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their consciences." -- C.S. Lewis
Ellery Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 I was just reading the Daily News, and it said something about Bloomberg is going to try to stop smoking in pubilic places/parks/beaches. Only thing would be left are the sidewalks...
bassman Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Osama will love that. The cops will be too busy writing smoking tickets to keep their eye on potential terrorists. If I can't smoke a cigar in Central Park, I won't go to NYC. At least you can still smoke in Parque Central.
PigFish Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 That is ridiculous. If things keep up like this, pretty soon they're going to be trying to regulate what I eat for lunch. Transfats to table salt... already in the works mate. Every liberal law looks good to someone, yet damages everyone! It started with fireworks and seatbelts, now every polly has got a cause. -Piggy
