michaelhealy
Afternoon everyone, On saturday night i experienced my first Partagas 898. WOW!!!!!!!! Being new to cigars (only 3 months in), this is so far the biggest cigar i have tried. The complexity blew my mind. The changes from the leathery to fruity notes had me completely mellowed after a great afternoon/night with some great friends (thanks again Brendan). I continued to get a spicy prune/dried apricot taste throughout the experience. I went to bed as soon as i finished as i was completely stuffed!!! I am curious to know what was the first cigar the totally rocked your world????

MrGlass
The very first would have been a Romeo Y Julieta No 1 Tubos that I picked up from the casino after a big night to smoke on the drive home. It was so different any other cigar I had tried, and made me want to try more Cubans. But the first one that totally rocked my world was definitely my first Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No 2. And to top it off, it was actually a gift when I went to buy some other cigars from my local. When I told him why I was there, I was gifted that cigar and invited to smoke it there with a coffee. It was the start of a great friendship. Nick.
Wil
Mine was a PLPC. Next best was with a Monte 2. I think a lot of times I've had that experience it hasn't just been about the cigar. Sure, they were great cigars, but I was really relaxed and in a great mood, which made for the total experience. I think a lot of times it's just as much about this as the cigar. Unless one is in the right frame of mind and one's palate is attuned, a fine cigar cannot be appreciated and would be a waste. Oddly enough, the first cigar that rocked my world was a tubed Romeo y Julieta Churchill, although that type doesn't do all that much for me now. CBL
First cigar that had me completely flabbergasted was a H. Upmann Sir Winston, it was my first Sir Winston and I had only been smoking for 6 months. I got it from a sampler pack that I brought to Paris where I met with some of my friends for a weekend. Throughout the weekend I smoked some incredible cigars, but the Sir Winston turned my world upside down. We went to the Ice Bar and got messed up on Vodka and afterwards we wondered through the streets drunk off our asses and climbed up to Sacre Coeur and smoked some cigars there. The Sir Winston became my favorite cigar in an instant! Couple of months later I bought my first cabinet from 2003, but I've never found that same taste again Dried fruits, sweet spices, it was just a roller coaster of flavors! dicko
two cigars stand out... my first cohiba ( a CORO). I think a good cohiba is worth all the hype. also a bolivar PC, I had a near out of body experience, almost felt like i was walking across a damp forest floor. showed me what pleasure can be found in inexpensive habanos. groza
The Montecristo Petit Edmundo tubo I had last night to celebrate the end of my summer break was very impressive. It was different from everything else that I had smoked this year.
jacksfull
8-9-8's are a standout among standouts. Partagas is by far my favorite CC marca overall. Funny, though. I actually avoided them when I first had access to CC's. For one thing, I wasn't quite sure how to pronounce the name correctly and I didn't want to sound like an idiot in the cigar store. Also, I'd had the NC brand of the same name and didn't particularly like them. It's not that I didn't realize the CC's were completely unrelated, but the NC's were so pervasive in the US that I thought the CC's would be looked on as ho-hum or assumed to be NC's. That was before I decided I don't give a flyin' gamahooch what anyone else thinks about what I choose to smoke.

I got a similar experience from my first Cohiba, a siglo 1, just not to the same extent.

Leopolis Semper Fidelis
The most rocking cigar I've had so far this year has been undoubtedly the Trinidad Robusto T. The best box of cigars I ever had was a 1990 one of Partagás 8-9-8 Varnished. They don't make 'em like that any more!!
