CigarmanTim Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 What a day I had! Have you ever had a day when every cigar was dead nuts on? I did today. I enjoy the LCDH in Nuremburg when I visit Germany for my company. 20 min train ride. It has been 2 years since I have been here and damn near the entire staff has changed. I arrived today a little after noon and selected a Party Serie Du Connoisseur #2 with a cappuccino. Beautiful and a great pairing I might add. Wonderful sweetness with the faint smell of ligero. I won't say this cigar was complex but it went perfect for an early day cigar. I decided I better buy my wife her present before the shops shut down. (they close early in Nuremburg even on Sat) A couple of hours later I headed in the direction of LCDH once again. One of the staff there was egging me on to try a Partagas Salamones. Yesterday I had an 898 and he was pushing me to try a Salamones...telling me I would like it better than an 898. I told him if I liked it better than an 898 I would buy him one also. Big mistake. Oh well, at least I didn't trade away my favorite watch. This Salamones was incredible. I paired it with some brand of Pils...not a great selection. It started off with a mixture of sweet cedar and a spice I can't put into words...similar to a JL2. It didn't stay that way for long. Pepper underlining a sweet cedar taste took me halfway through the stick. Razor straight burn The construction was perfect and it had a white ash?! The amount of smoke was more than I was used to...wonderful sweet manure smell. The final third the pepper took over but did not overpower. Hands down my best cigar of the year. I liked it so much I bougt the box and gave the guy a stick out of the box. LRE JUN 09. I tried to get up and pay my bill but a new staff mamber twisted my arm.(didn't take much) I selected a much fuller beer (don't ask me what) which was a decent match for the RASS I picked out. Now I have heard Ellie and many others espouse the virtues of the RASS. Frankly, I had a couple a few years ago at this same shop and thought it lacking. After seeing that it was a hot selling cigar here at the Czar I decided to give it another chance. I see the light. This was a speckled, nasty looking cigar. Rough around the edges to say the least. The smoke was dead on. Surprised the hell out of me. I'm not much at describing flavors, let me just say I enjoyed it and can see it taking up residence in my rotation. I came looking for new cigars to try and hit gold on all.

cigcars Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 *I was stationed in Neckarsulm, just around the corner from Heilbronne in 1978. Your article & experience there makes me want to go back JUST to acquire and smoke all the Regionals to be found there that my tongue can handle!
