bunburyist Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 all the usual craziness from the bull run: pictures My brother did this a few years back and kept his phone camera on as he ran - smell the fear! I particularly like the pic 16 caption. Good luck with that....
LeafLover Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 I can sense the fear and sense of panic in that picture. Hey! I did the running of the bulls recently. Actually the bull was my wife when she found out how much I spent on cigars in the past two years. She was walking after me down our hallways screaming: "We could have paid one year of college for (our son)" "We could have paid for the girls (I have three) dance classes and competition for three years." I asked her how much all the jewelry she buys cost. Stopped that bull in her tracks. Why I'm saying this: I'd rather face a raging bull than a raging wife any day.
Stalebread Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 Are there always so many runners down and injured in this event?
cigarros Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 Atavisms of History ((( Check yourself in the agility and ability to jump to the side))
OZCUBAN Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 Having not participated myself common sense would say that the Equation would be To be brave enough without getting killed Still i find myself mystically drawn to it
Wicky Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 Never quite understood the tradition..... I don't get it either. Seems to me you should be smarter than the bull and stay the hell out of the way!
thechenman Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 I've actually always wanted to do this. Have a few friends that have done it, and truly enjoyed the experience.
El Presidente Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Ran it back in the 80's with my father who is a veteran Pamplona runner. Because of the crowds you only really run 50 - 60 meters as the bulls approach and come past. Trick is to understand the lay of the land in that 50 meters, the escapes, little bits of protection etc. The year I ran 2 people were killed, one Spaniard and one Aussie. Plenty of people leave with bruises and a few broken bones. Pamplona is an amazing place for that week. A city of 200,000 (and a beautiful city at that) becomes host to over a million people for 7 days. The bars are full, the weather hot, The music never ending. The practice in those days at least was to leave a bar at 7am and prep for the run. Liquor was courage in a bottle. I have done many runs in weekend fiestas in towns throughout Northern Spain during the summer season. Pamplona is the "Big Show". You should get to see and "feel" it at least once.
MIKA27 Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 As crazy as it is, I'd love to run it or at least be there during the run.
OZCUBAN Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 My sentiments exactly ,may be a FOH Pamplona get together
