Will Arnold Schwarzenegger appear in Predators?

One of cinema's most iconic monsters is back on the big screen in Predators, billed as a "direct sequel" to the 1987 classic.

Fans will remember the original action flick as a turning point in Arnold Schwarzenegger's career. The question now: is the Governor of California back for more?

"I can't say for sure," producer Robert Rodriguez told MovieFIX.

"If you've seen the first movie then you'll recognise some references to him."

Rodriguez is best known as a director, but for Predators he was a producer — albeit a very involved one, helping to choose the writers and cast and make decisions on special effects and music.

The man responsible for Sin City and Spy Kids handed the reins to Nimrod Antal (Vacancy) during production, but was cautious about taking over.

"I know being a director you don't want to mess with a director's vision too much while he's [shooting]," Rodriguez said.

"All the balls are in the air and if you poke at them they're all going to come crashing down."

Predators follows an elite group of warriors who find themselves on an alien planet, hunted by a merciless race known as Predators.

The movie's biggest surprise — and one of its biggest drawcards — is Adrien Brody, the Oscar-winning actor of The Pianist who plays the lead role of Royce.

Rodriguez said the casting "makes the whole project more interesting".

"It's the same as when I cast Antonio [banderas] or George Clooney — just because they haven't done an action movie before doesn't mean they can't do it. They're fantastic actors, they can do anything. Adrien went and worked out and physically changed himself; he really embodies the character better than if you see an actor who's done that type of role over and over."

Predators is in cinemas on July 8.

MIKA: This doesn't really answer the question as to weather Arnold makes an appearance/cameo? I for one would love to see Schwarzanegger return as Dutch! :cofcig:

Maybe the Govenator will appear mid way into the movie smoking a box of his daily delivered smokes! lol.

This looks awesome, I hope it has some gore to it like the first two movies did and it's not badly made like the new AVP movies are. ;)

It looks to be the goods bud! :P

I've heard its supposed to be a real gore fest. :D

The very first AVP wasn't all that bad, set in Antarctica and had Lance Hendricksen in it. The following two movies however really should not even be mentioned as they ruined the franchise.

Nope...haven't see it yet, but The New York Times gave it an awful review...if that means anything to anyone.

Doesn't mean much to me as most often than not both Horror and action films have always received lower reviews compared to the better story driven movies.

At the end of the day, if you're a horror or action fan, you'll watch it and most probably love it. IMO :D

My wife and I are HUGE fans of horror, thriller, sci fi movies and I've read many reviews where the movie has fairer poorly yet when I've watched it, it was brilliant. ;)

I'm the same when it comes to horror type films. Are they ever going to get good reviews from the critics? Of course not but I want to see some blood and guts! I love 80s horror for this reason, the movies seemed so much more stranger and weird back then.

Has anyone seen this? I want to know what everyone thinks and if Arnold is in it!

I love the Friday the 13th series, nothing compares to those flicks IMO for blood and guts.
