in0gravity Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 Hi all, I have two questions: Do you think that HSA will honor the late Alejandro Robaina? I mean with all the achievements he did (travelling the world while sharing his knowledge of Cuban tobacco with enthusiasts, convincing Fidel Castro that tobacco farms should remain in privat hand and not goverment owned) for the cigar indutry. And, if he is being honored, how would it be? A limited edition, commercialising the Padrino farm cigar, a puro just out of Robaina tobacco? or something else? Thanks in advance for your views on this Lars
OZCUBAN Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 Thanks Lars for a great post, I am not quiet sure how Don Alejandro Robaina should be honored ,but what i do know it should be something that is lasting and befits the huge contribution that he has made over a LIFETIME ,not sure a EL would be fitting enough tribute as EL's come and go. I mean he already has one of the best Cigar lines available, his own named after him. Not really sure on this one ,maybe some sort of civic tribute would be more fitting, maybe some of our members and Rob in particular would have a better insight on this as some have met him and would have a better understanding of the man himself. I my self only know of the huge contribution he has made and the Legacy he has left behind. A truly amazing individual Cheers OZ
samb Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 I certainly think they should honor his contributions, but how, Im not too sure. I also dont know how something like that would be handled in Cuba. I think it would be cool if they released his farm smokes, but that may also compromise the integrity of the unique farm smoke. Maybe a book chronicling his life.
cigarros Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 Good questions Lars! I really don't know how HSA will honor Godfather but sure they must do it! Probably, my opinion, they're can establish his name award for next and others FdH, and of course will publish some books.
in0gravity Posted June 27, 2010 Author Posted June 27, 2010 @ Oz agree on the EL's. Was not thinking about that. @ samb I guess that the Robaina Farm were doing farm cigars before Robaina got his own cigar line by HSA. In my humble opinion it is a new cigar to the line with a fitting name and not compromising the integrity of it. I like the idea of the book. Agree with you both that it should be something that is longlasting and fitting to his Legacy regards Lars
Colt45 Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 It's hard to say what a tribute befitting his place might be......... but giving blessings to his family's endeavors and granting them the necessary autonomy might be a start.
