Ken Gargett Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 elie very kindly brought up a cuaba salamones when we caught up end of last week. now i really always wanted to like these and i have tried them from rob, from cuba, from spain and anywhere else i ever saw one. all crap. dire, toxic wind tunnels. elie wanted to convince me that they could be better. and i concede. his was terrific (for the first half - lapsed back into bad habits after that). really enjoyed it (was convinced that the guys had slipped the band off a cuaba and put it on one of rob's new custom rolled but they assure me not so). the second half reverted back to the old hot, earthy and a bit grubby but (and i never include the LE in this), overall definitely the most enjoyable cuaba i've encountered. many thanks, elie.
maalouly Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 Ken, Thank you for keeping your promise, Rob we need to upload the photos on behalf of Ken for proof. Cheers, Elie.

Wow! Things must really be looking up for Cuaba, if the marque elicits Ken's (somewhat qualified) imprimatur. Maybe I'll be forced to change my negative outlook too..but not yet.
mazolaman Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 I used to smoke Divinos, and traditionales all the time. Divinos being great little smokes. Then all of a sudden they turned to rubbish, plugged, bad burn, bad taste.Shame.
cigaraholic Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 About time somebody did. Every time I've had to read or hear Ken trashing Cuaba I wish I lived in Australia so I could give him a great one to smoke. Thanks Elie!!!!
Bahnofstrasse Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 Had a wonderful Cuaba Salamones not to long ago... EMA Sep 08 Box Code. Medium bodied, smooth, good burn, rich plumes of smoke. 90 minutes of smoke time. Plan on more sleepy for these and I believe they will get better. Yesterday broke out the Cuaba Piramide 08 EL. Simply magnificent! Rich, full bodied tobacco, chocolate, aromatic smoke, 75 minutes of pure pleasure. I cannot wait for these to get some more age to them. I actually am going to look to pick up a couple of more Boxes for long term storage. Great smoke, and if you never have had one, suggest that you try.
