OZCUBAN Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 This test only has one question, but it's a very important one. By giving an honest answer, you will discover where you stand morally. The test features an unlikely, fictional situation in which you will have to make a decision. Remember that your answer needs to be honest, and spontaneous. Please scroll down slowly and give due consideration to each line. ------------------------- THE SITUATION You are in North Queensland, There is chaos all around you caused by a hurricane with severe flooding. You are a photo journalist working for a major newspaper and you're caught in the middle of this epic disaster. You're trying to shoot career-making photos. There are houses and people swirling around you, and disappearing under the water. =============================================== THE TEST Suddenly you see a man in the water. He is fighting for his life, trying not to be taken down with the debris. You move closer. Somehow the man looks familiar. You suddenly realize who it is. It's the Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd. At the same time you notice that the raging waters are about to take him under forever. You have two options- you can save the life of the Prime Minister, or you can shoot a dramatic Pulitzer Prize winning photo, documenting the death of one of the Australia’s most infamous politicians. =============================================== THE QUESTION Here's the question, and please give an honest answer....... Would you select high contrast colour film, or would you go with the classic simplicity of black and white? Oz
Ken Gargett Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 i can only be honest. i would not have taken the photo. it might, after all, be used as evidence. my immediate reaction was that i would be pushing him under.

Your not the only one Ken I think this is happening as we speak,by his own party Cheers Oz
Ken Gargett Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 Your not the only one Ken I think this is happening as we speak,by his own party Cheers Oz fascinating to see if they would swap leaders so close to an election. and you know he'll fight tooth and nail to stay there.
Ken Gargett Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 i would not be at all surprised if he twigs that a challenge is on the cards that he goes straight to the GG to call an election.
dicko Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 i would not be at all surprised if he twigs that a challenge is on the cards that he goes straight to the GG to call an election. he should have gone for a double dissolution election last year with the ETS. he would have smashed it. now... enough time has elapsed for the oz public to see his spin. however the mad monk is another poor option.

Yep, could go from bad to worse. Its the situation here at state level too - pick the best of a bad bunch??
sje Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 Save him, unfortunately i could not live with myself otherwise s
Kangaroo495 Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 Save him, unfortunately i could not live with myself otherwises You left out the word "Don't" at the start of the sentence, right?
Trevor2118 Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 Well......being a trained lifesaver (a volunteer lifeguard for our US cousins) I think a serious point should be made. You should not jump into dangerous waters. This is a first, but wrong reaction. The safest thing is to throw him something to hang onto. Like a anchor.

MIKA27 Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 I'd shoot the pic in black and white, then photoshop it with the Ruddster drowning with a stogie in his mouth! That'll teach the bastard for hiking up the tobacco taxes!!
skindiver Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 Can we get this US option with Obama backstroking on an oil slick in the gulf of Mexico?
cigcars Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 Well......being a trained lifesaver (a volunteer lifeguard for our US cousins) I think a serious point should be made. You should not jump into dangerous waters. This is a first, but wrong reaction. The safest thing is to throw him something to hang onto. Like a anchor. Wow, you guys sound just like us when we'd be talkin' about our supervisors on my old job. A few of my co-workers have described their feelings about our boss in the following terms: "If he was on fire and I had a case of the worst pisses in the world, I wouldn't piss on 'im to put 'im out." The rest I can't repeat - and that's just from my descriptions!!!
sandholm Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 I would use my 503CW with HP5+ with a polarizing filter I'd go for high resolution colour. You can always convert to B&W in Photoshop. No you cant, you can change the color representation, or even worse (pixel Value)/(red+green+blue) but that is not equal to real black and white pictures (black and white is capturing intensity of light, color capture the intensity in three color band)
sandholm Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 It's good enough.. Pulitzer Prize and if you have to (some photos i shoot on positive i want to have has B/W) then in photoshop the effect layer and the black & white mixer can do a descent job, but its far far away from real B/W (which (so far) no digital camera can simulate)
sandholm Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 The Swiss know their stuff..... I just love photo.. and if you are into digital (which I also use), dont read the following, First all images here are scaled the same amount, so if its a 5 MP sensor or 50 it dont matter, the 50 will be printed 10x bigger just. In the example the "negativ/sensor" has been enlarged 8x Original image D100 (old digital, but remember, sensor size dont matter here, and not much has changed when it comes to the result) Enlarged to 18x24 cm 135 mm film Enlarged to 40x50 cm image 120 (6x6) film Enlarged to 90x90cm image 4x5 inche Enlarged to 1,7x2,1 m 8x10 inches Enlarged to 3x4m Do you want to shoot digital or 6x6 (or even 35 mm film)? And now we are not even talking about sensor vs film sensitivity, color control.... I use digital, but not when i want an image that i can control i use film, digital is perfect to send over the internet but not to print a photo, and for me, a photo is not finished until its printed. cheers
Mel Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 Wow this is a well loved mate. Where are his supporters on this forum surely there is one???
