smll2 Posted June 17, 2010 Author Posted June 17, 2010 Gotta close it out in LA. Will be tough. It will be tough given the Laker Victory last night and the home court advantage. However...I am not counting out the Celts. I was there last night with my son and It was the greatest Laker game I've ever attended being a season ticket holder for the past 12 years....and my dad taking me to the forum when I was a youngster. On a side note I'm a little suprised at the apathy on this site for this series.( Not bagging on the members)...just wondering about the lack of interest. The World Cup goes on for a month or so. This is the LAKERS versus the CELTICS. Professional basketball doesn't get any better than this. This final ends tomorrow. On another side note I do hate the Celtics more than any professional sports franchise in all of sports. I hope they lose. I pray they lose. Given the finality of game 7 taking place tomorrow they have the same opportunity as the Lakers to prevail. This will be an epic and historic game. The better team will win tomorrow. No excuses. Go Lakers!!!
Smooth Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 Have watched all the Celtics post season games (huge fan) and have to say that was their worst game by far. They were terrible at both ends of the court! The pressure from the Lakers was impressive. Hoping for a closer game 7 to decide the series. And a Celtics win!!
tucomapache Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 Paul Pierce partying in style during victory parade '08. KG was smoking a Gran Reserva as well. Note the burning issues...
LeafLover Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 Game 6 was terrible. I was hoping that Celtics would close the gap and not get spanked so hard so psychologically they would be in a better place for Game 7. Don't know what happened with Celtics bench! 0 points! Well, I have to admit, Looters will have the edge for Game 7. I was watching in the end of the fourth quarter when KG, Rasheed, Ray, and Rajon were sitting and having a discussion. Looked kind of like they were discussing what they were going to do for next game. As they they were sitting around watching tapes and planning strategy. That was promising to see rather than them just hanging their heads. Game 7 is going to be outright exciting!!! Like the rivalry of the 80's that made me a Celtic lifer, the rivalry has been reborn. 2008 Celtics took it, 2009 Lakers took it (only because Celtics was battle weary and minus KG for the better part of the season and playoffs). And now, it's Celtics and Lakers in June again. Man! I love this game! Yes, everyone is saying "May the better team win." I'm going to clarify and say, "May the better team this season win." Because to me, Celtics will always be the better team. Have fun everyone!!!!
jdeese88 Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 With Perkins out, Rasheed and Big Baby better step it up tonight. I think its going to be close. Hopefully the refs don't try to decide the game. Can't stand it when the star players get in foul trouble early on. Anywho... oughtta be a good game. Can't wait.
thechenman Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 Tomorrow Mornings Headline: "Lakers WIN!" At least I'm hoping and praying it is. Wish I was back out on the West Coast attending the game with my father and brother.
Colt45 Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 On a side note I'm a little suprised at the apathy on this site for this series.( Not bagging on the members)...just wondering about the lack of interest. Very generally speaking (and not to speak for anyone), I don't know that it's apathy as much as keeping things civil and from getting out of hand, as these things can often end up.
compitaveggie Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 LAKERS WIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D Jose
LeafLover Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Smoked a Punch RS11 to celebrate the Celtics' season. They beat Cleveland (best record) then Orlando (2nd best record) to make it to the finals. They had the Lakers on the ropes up to the last five minutes of the game but was bested by the Lakers in the end. IMO, Celtics lost, Lakers did not win. Great season! Great championship! Congrats to the Lakers and Lakers fans! Just don't tear up LA, okay?! Celtics is the greatest franchise in the NBA!
jdeese88 Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 What a great display of free throw shooting... Glad to see Kobe win his 5th championship. He definately deserves it. Its another step in the pantheon of all time greats. I just don't like how the refs officiated that game. The fouls called was a little ridiculous. I would have liked to see the Lakers win without the refs stopping the play every few minutes. Lakers shot 37 free throws and made 25 of them. So basically 30% of the Lakers offense/points came from free throws. I know that not the Lakers fault. This is the era they play in. Basketball just not what it used to be. That being said. This was a very entertaining series. Now we must wait for the draft.

I totally agree, I'm still sore from the Celtics loss so we can take this with a grain of salt But 37 free throws vs 17 with two very aggressive teams playing hard at both ends, something doesn't add up. I too wish it could have been decided on the court. Kolbe is one of the greats and he gets that Michael Jordan respect from the Refs. It's the way of the NBA now. But, as they say, no excuses, the Lakers beat the Cs who have a lot to be proud of, taking out 2 great teams to get to the finals. Congrats to the Lakers and Laker fans, have fun with the parade. Big changes for the Cs this off season, maybe no more Doc, no more Rasheed.... Now back to the World Cup and US Open!

Probably no more Ray Allen either as he will probably boogie on down to Miami as he isn't happy that Rondo has moved ahead of him in the pecking order in Beantown. As for the disparate number of foul shots taken...I don't think you can blame the refs as they made bad calls on both sides of the court. I comes down to who is better at drawing the foul. Kobe is the King at drawing the foul whenever he is driving the lane, or in the situation with Allen...if you lock him up in 3pt. range. Truly not the best offensive game seen, but the Celtics lost for three reasons...the lack of offensive rebounds, turnovers and running out of steam at the end. Their older legs, just couldn't carry them the duration. Wonder if the Lakers will 3-peat next year. With Jackson 1 championship shy of a dozen, he may come back for less money. Fisher is the other big question mark? Still all the key players outside of Fisher have signed 3-year extensions, so we could see the Lakers dominate for some time. Good for Laker Nation...not so sure about the rest of the NBA.

Congrats to the Lakers and Lakers fans! Just don't tear up LA, okay?! Celtics is the greatest franchise in the NBA! The Celtics are one Championship away from having to share the distinction of being the greatest franchise in NBA history, and some would argue that it is already debatable with the Lakers having 10 more finals appearances than the Celtics. They are two Laker Championships from losing this distinction. With the Celtics looking at the breakup of their Big 3 and the key Lakers all signing 3 year extensions...there is a good chance that the Lakers pick up another Championship or two in the next few years. Celtics I think will be in a rebuilding phase.
Mr.T Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Congratulations to the Lakers and to all the Laker fans on the forum! A battle to the very end! I would expect nothing less than from the two greatest franchises in NBA history.....I'm still sad the Minneapolis Lakers moved to LA The Celtics can be very proud of how they finished the season.

Their older legs, just couldn't carry them the duration. Yeah, Kobe is no doubt the best player in the NBA. And he is great at drawing the foul. It just sucks how the refs are just waiting to blow that whistle and sometimes they end up calling phantom fouls. Even the announcers were like "where is the foul?" on some of them. And the refs did that to both teams. I'm all for letting them play. You cannot call that many penalties. Like in football, the refs can call holding on a lot more plays than they do, but they don't unless it undoubtly prevents a sack or a tackle. The fans don't want to see flags and whistles in a big game like this. I just wish the NBA was like it was back in the 90s. I remember when Jordan took it to the hoop and they used to make him pay for it, without any fouls being called. Or not as often as it is now. I didn't know this but I was listening to Mike and Mike in the Morning and they said that the reason basketball is not how it was back in the 80s and 90s is because they changed some of the rules on defense. So what is fouls nowadays, wasn't fouls back then. Part of the reason is how teams likes the Knicks used to play defense. It was a tougher league back then. Its just a different era you can say. You can't blame it on the Lakers, you cannot blame it on Kobe. Anywho... Great series. Came down to the wire. You cannot ask for better enertainment than that.

Let them play basketball like in the 80's and 90's. Let everyone earn their baskets. Gritty, hard-fought basketball.
LeafLover Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Again, congrats to Lakers and Laker fans. Was a great finals. Proud of my Celtics! Live and die a Celtic fan. Standing behind them: past, present and future.
smll2 Posted June 19, 2010 Author Posted June 19, 2010 The Lakers dominated the boards in Game 7. They outdefended the Celtics in the end when it mattered the most. They were the tougher team. They shot just over 30% and found a way to win with their skill, size and determination not to lose. The Lakers wanted it more. The Celtics had a great season...one that Celtics fans should be proud of given that nobody expected them to be in the finals. The better team won!!! Looking foward to seeing the Lakers 3 peat next year!!!
reg Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 man, what a game! First half was UGLY. The 4th quarter picked up with about 7 minutes to go. The back and forth 3s had me going crazy. I forget who hit the first one, Pierce maybe. Then artest fired back and ray ray answered, wow. Kobe took the worst shot of the night(challenged only by odom's quick 3) by taking a deep 3 early in the shot clock to make it 4 in a row. He had a poor game but I don't know why people are making a big deal out of it. they won, it doesn't matter. Also, I don't like "celtics gave the game away." it might seem like that, but sports usually don't work that way. yeah, they seemed tired at the end of the game, but you can just as easily say that is because the lakers worked them too hard. some questionable calls near the end but boston was making some dumb mistakes. GREAT game
reg Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 sad that the first thing you see when you look at that picture is dj mbenga. 2nd thing, and you don't even see it to think about it, that adam morrison has 2 rings already. and the young dude next to him, can't even think of his name. powell or something? idk(ok, I just looked it up, and it is powell. I'm surprised I knew his name lol) sad when you think about it, guys like charles barkley never got a ring and there are so many random guys that have em. luke walton, the machine, farmar etc have a few
