Just a quick update to let you know that a start has been made on the promised upgrading of all the cigar images on the website.

All the current cigars and the majority of the Special releases are being photographed under uniform lighting conditions.

Forgot to mention. Tubes are also being added. For example:

post-1158-1269834845.jpg

All the new images will be click-able to display them 3 times larger. These images are of real cigars and are not "improved" by photo editing; so minor marks, sun spots, etc have been left in, so as to represent real life conditions.

So far, Cohiba, Cuaba, San Cristóbal, and Trinidad have been done. This has resulted in many new images as well as upgrading the existing images.

You will also find that many pages will load significantly faster. This is due to technical problems with the initial uploading, when the GIF files were converted into JPEG files.....resulting in files 2x to 5x larger than they should be. Thanks to Alex, this problem has been fixed.

Hello Trevor, I saw on your website you listed the Cohiba Piramides from 2001 had the LE band which was not embossed. I have a whole box of these cigars and the second LE band is embossed on my cigars. Just an observation

Thanks for the observation.

Both the bands in my cigar band collection are not embossed but I don't know what brand they were off. I had assumed that they would be all similar...bad mistake.

I will check cigars from all the five 2001 LE releases later today and let you know what I find. (currently dark outside & raining cats & dogs... B) )

Trevor.

A follow up.

I have checked the 2001 bands on my Cohiba, HDM, and Partagás and they do not appear to have true embossing (see below).

The 2001 R & J does have true embossing on the text section but not the date.

The montecristo's (2 lots) has one lot similar to the Cohiba etc, and the other similar to the R & J, ie distinct embossing to the text letters, none to the numbers.

When I use the term "true embossing", I refer to embossing where indentations are clearly evident in the band from the rear of the band (and of course to the face of the band).

Apparent embossing is where the ink thickness gives an embossed appearance on the face of the band, but there is no indentations visible on the rear of the band.

Can 'prashant' (and anyone else) please advise the extent of the embossing on the 2001-LE bands (letter, numbers, other) and if the embossing is negligable, minor or normal.

At this stage, I will change the description, probabily to "minor text embossing (variable)" as an easy out. :o

Regards,
