  1. I try not to get in this situation--I bring plenty of my own stuff to smoke and would usually bring a gifted stick home for later. (Even in the case of something really great--delayed gratification.) People are rarely pushy if you show that you appreciate the gesture and promise to smoke it later. I also mostly hang out with guys who smoke good cigars, so when I've been gifted cigars at a lounge in the moment, they've been sticks I'm familiar with, even if I've never tried them. That said, if really pushed to it, I would give it my best so as not to offend. For my palate there are very few things out there that are truly disgusting and unsmokeable. Something might not be my cup of tea, but it's not likely to make me gag.
  2. Just because it was on TV, doesn't make it true. The only "research" or "proof" presented in the video is that they have a letter they claim was written by JFK's secretary. That's pretty thin. EDIT: The comment above is on point--they should at a minimum be able to dig up a photo that shows the box on his desk.
  3. I don't buy this. It's being sold through a pawn shop, by a guy who can't pronounce the word provenance. The box is from a maker of crappy Filipino cigars. You'd need much more solid evidence than that to spend $90k on a wooden box someone claims belonged to JFK.
  4. I would not be surprised in the least. If the trend in the US doesn't reverse, HSA has no reason not to release a 60rg eventually. If they are able to price it at a large enough premium, the extra tobacco used makes perfect sense.
  5. I second this suggestion. I smoke one "A" size cigar each year and thoroughly enjoy it. Usually a Monte but have also had the recent Punch regional and have an Opus A waiting for sometime soon.
  6. RyJ have been very underrated the past few years. I've had good SCs, good Churchills, and even a great Tubo No. 1 in Saigon two years ago.
  7. I am a big fan of the sharks, the round to square shape does add something to the experience for me. But they do need age, absolutely.
  8. LFDC PCs are fine, but to me they just taste like generic Cuban tobacco. Nothing particularly interesting or notable, just a cheap Cuban cigar.
  9. I say buy what you like. No sense wasting your cash buying boxes because HSA might discontinue something. I wish I'd been able to go deep on BCEs before they were discontinued, but I can spend the money elsewhere.
  10. Yeah I wouldn't lay long odds on them adding a long and skinny. :-)
  11. You inspired me to make a whiskey sour last night. Actually, I ended up making a Boston sour (just a whiskey sour with an egg white added) and really enjoyed it.
  12. Agreed. I've had a few singles and while good none of them were compelling enough to justify the lofty prices for a box. There are other things I'd rather smoke. Maybe this will focus attention (and sales) on some other cigars to save some long-and-skinnies and short format cigars I like. Definitely understand the frustration of those who loved these though.
  13. Punch RS12. Nothing rare or amazing but enjoyable. Solid cigar.
  14. Hope you wind up enjoying them, to be honest I've had seller's remorse. :-) But I was not smoking enough of my Opus stash for exactly the reason the OP mentions.
  15. Good to see you over here, Hasan!
  16. I love Manhattans, though I usually make them with bourbon.
  17. They come in boxes of ten, brother! Problem solved.
  18. Glad I put in my order for the 1966s already and have them on the way from Czars, so I'm not tempted to double down!
  19. I have a bottle and like it. (Legendario 7 is the "elixir".) It is not a sophisticated drink, though, a bit candy-like. The raisin taste is fairly strong. I do find it a very nice change of pace but love Zaya as my primary sipping rum.
  20. Monte A, love em!! Also the Lusi. I am not really a Partagas fan but I like that cigar.
