  5. I let the water drain into the hole on the bottom the way it was designed and use beads in bags on both levels for humification. I also, using a hot glue gun, lined the sides with 2" spanish cedar and have spanish cedar shelves purchased form an online vedor who custom makes them. The water accumulates in a drain pan internally and is evaporated and dispursed from the heat of the condensor. Have had it for 3 years now and never an issue. Hope that helps. I also use oust fans for circulation. Sorry but dont have pics of the shelves.
  6. I have always taken my cigars from my chiller 16c - 65rh (converted wine cooler) to my desktop for at least a week before I smoke them. I have found that it does in fact improve the burn and taste for reasons beyond me. I usually take two from each box of the cigars in my chiller that I plan on smoking for the coming week. It works out nice as I always have a good selection to choose from. I have never tried to dry box but this is an interesting idea. Going to give it a try.

  8. I have a avanti 28btl wine cooler and i never plugged the drain. I put some beads over it in a mesh bag and let them absorb the water, I latter found out that you should ONLY USE DISTLLED WATER as it affect the fuctionality/hydration of the beads. Well since the water from the cooler is not distilled that was a mistake. The beads never controlled the humidity correctly after that. The point that I am making is that the beads are very reacitive and it sound to me that you also picked up the smell from another source..... perhaps you should remove the back panel of the cooler and check the drain pan. The water accumulates there to be evorporated and perhaps that smell is what the beads are absorbing and affecting the taste of your smokes. My 2 cents.
