  1. Wow those stickers on the "Don Pablo", when were they printed? Yesterday?!? And truly WTF is that "legitima tabacos puros" sticker meant to be!
  2. I know some people have mentioned some hotel bars above. Technically it's legal but as a guy who will stick out like a foreign tourist there with your wife for work, I'd suggest staying away from alcohol in Abu Dhabi. You may not get hassled for the drinking specifically, but if there are other issues, like clearing hotel payments or Covid documentation that may be not as THEY want it to be, or anyone you've upset for whatever reason, you may get hassled for that or anything else after you leave the bar, and then you're over a barrel without any assistance with alcohol in your system and the locals calling the cops on you. To me, drinking just isn't worth it in the UAE, even where it is legal to do so. Enjoy the F1 races this weekend, go enjoy a nice dinner, and have some soda or sparkling water, and have an enjoyable cigar after!
  3. You do not need to be vaccinated to go to the UAE currently, but it is highly recommended, additionally only UAE residents and expats can receive a vaccine within the UAE. Within 96 (72 depending on airline) hours before your flight departs for the UAE you should have taken a PCR test and have received the results (negative) prior to boarding. If you have a positive PCR test, don't even bother trying to fly into the UAE currently. When you arrive in the UAE you'll need to take another PCR test and then again on the 6th day after entry; if both of those tests come back negative, you'll be "good" for your month visit. Avoid Sharjah still as they are still operating as their own 'country-in-a-country'. As for using the app, upload your passport and vaccine documents, get your ID number, register in the app, make sure all the information is correct to you, upload your test results, make sure the results are correct, get a hotel room in the Dubai airport hotel when you land, take test #2, call, call, call. With non-residents using the app, there will always be a delay for the pairing of data to passport information, then back into the app. You will need to call the phone number from your hotel room (or a UAE number) repeatedly to get all of the information paired "fast". If it doesn't sound like you are bothering them when you call to ask for an update, you haven't called enough yet.
  4. I got a lot of similar flavors as others. It never gave me a fight on the draw but the burn was all over the place. I think this cigar could easily use another six months of sitting to mellow out. First third: wood, tannic, earthy second third: slight spice, salty, burnt chocolate or burnt coffee last third: spice over powers other flavors, light cream, salt still on my tongue, very strong nicotine hit At the end: all spice and nicotine hits If I only guessed on others comments I’d guess this was a very young Boli PC but I have a few ideas to mull through over the next hour.
  5. PO Boxes my fine sirs, less than $50 per year and the wife only sees the one box every few months you get shipped to the house!
  6. Count me in! This sounds like my usual weekend afternoon by the pool anyway!
  7. I forgot to mention above that this is truly the key takeaways from these posts. You can be as respectful as Queen Elizabeth and wear as many clothes as your grandmother would, but if you make a mistake and cause a problem, even if it's not directly your fault, it WILL NOT end well for you as an outsider in an Arab country. I would expect your wife's business to have security and legal representatives in the region you'd be residing in. Keep their numbers and addresses in your phone and on a paper on you at all times, you don't want to have to reach them and have to depend on your phone 100%. Additionally if you are going out alone, give someone who is separate of you your destination, and expected return, so if you don't show up by then, they can at least reach out to you to make sure you're okay and not lost/stranded/in trouble.
  8. A visa is not required for US tourists to the UAE as long as your passport is valid for a minimum of six months after arrival, though a work visa on behalf of your wife would not be a bad thing. Covid is still a pandemic there, you will have strict entry and exit plans to the nation, and will likely have to stay in an "airport hotel" for quarantine until you pass their restrictions. The apps and papers may not all line up for negative test results and vaccination records, if that happens, call the health numbers for assistance. Shorts will likely get you "dress-coded" from almost any public location that you were not personally invited to come to. Slacks and a button-down shirt is welcomed. If a local tells you that you're not dressed enough, don't argue, just leave, or the police will be called. You will have to cover from your shoulders to below your knees. If you cover everything (you don't need to cover your face), then you are setting a better precedent for yourself. Most places there will accept USD/CAD/Euro/GBP but you wont get good "personal exchange rates" and would be saving money by exchanging to the dirham (AED) at a bank or other official money exchange. Currently 1 USD ~ 3.5 AED. Photos of people and government/military property without permission there is a huge issue and red flag, and can get you arrested, you don't want to be in trouble in the Middle East. If you want to do photography, do it in the mountains alone, or in places with permission and an accompanying guide. Their Customs may want to review any digital media before departing if you either claim large amounts or they search and find large amounts of SD cards, flash drives, hard drives, etc; or if you declare yourself as a photographer. Pork and Alcohol is highly controlled, and will not be in markets, it is a Muslim country. You will have to find a "friend" for those, but the UAE sees even possession of alcohol similar to drugs, it comes with a risk. If you can go without drinking alcohol for the time there, that would be best. Cigars are available, there are multiple LCDH in the UAE and other stores too. Airport Duty Frees will likely have the best prices in Dubai, along with UK Duty Free locations which you may pass through as a layover. Driving is a must but don't drive yourself, get an "Uber" or hire a driver. You will get sun burns if you walk through the cities for long periods of time outdoors. Sharjah and Ajman are run under Sharia law, if you decide to go there, it should be accompanied, and be prepared for strict observations.
  9. Less of a case of sold off, but more of a case of didn't buy enough in 2006 when a wholesaler closed down and had a fire-sale, and smoked through that stock much quicker than ever expected!
  10. Is Arnold training for a new job as a comedian?
  11. If Havana House was brilliant, they would request a corona, lonsdale, lancero, or a panetela as a regional in a 25slb w/o bands, and they would sell like hotcakes, even with plain packaging. Hell, put in a redemption card in the box (with a matching number to the box) to send in to HH for bands for $50, as a promotional product, and that would sell them even hotter!
  12. Sorry to hear this Rob, maybe he was just looking for the 2021 FOH blind tasting results ahead of time to look like the biggest chump... err i mean champ! Honestly though that sucks, hope insurance is quick, and the dirtbag is caught even quicker and you get to pick his punishment!
  13. Excited to make it in this year! Lets try to get at least one!
