  1. This crap needs to stop. Never written a letter, but I guess its time.
  2. Since no ones posting pics I will go first. me and the first lady who is wearing a jacket although all night she was discussing how much she loved the cold of SF. Come back anytime. Maybe we can go to a sharks game and they will bring the biff.
  3. The ladys just left. Lot of fun Lisa is a great lady.
  4. Sweet talking the wife. Looks like I will be able to head out after the kids go down. Fingers crossed. Pregnant with number 4 so walking on eggshells.
  5. Kevin any idea what time this will go to? I am in San Jose so 1 hour drive. My kids go to bed at 8 so I wont get there till 9-930. None of the babotl guys are active on the board so I am having a tough time generating any intrest. May be able to get 1 or 2 if I drive them. Just dont want to drive up if you guys are shutting it down early. What time does the establishment close?
  6. Family first. I have 3 little ones and fourth and final is on the way. Working on trying to get some members of the bay area brothers of the leaf to come. Most of us live in areas othet then SF. Is everyone sure you can still smoke at the planned location. Last night we went to Occidental to welcome a botl on a business trip from Boston. One of the regulars at Occidental said the planned location had lost its smoking license. That left Occidental as the only place like it in the city.
  7. What time to what time is this happening? Im in the southbay couldnt get up there till later evening. 3 little kids at home. Agreed Occidental is much to small. Went there to meet an east coast botl. Very cramped.
  8. A friend of mine was smoking one of these at the b&m tonight. He gave it to me to try because it was a gift and he had concearns about authenticity. I will echo the burnt sugar aspect in the 2/3. This really took me by suprise. I have had some RyJ Beli recently that had some sweet aspects, but this was very noticeable. I am debating these now. After the holidays ofcourse shhheeeesh.
  9. Have had a couple great ones, but recent stuff is way to tight. Really disappointing given how good they Cam be. Had some older ones that had amazing sweet fruit profile.
  10. Great thread and work. Love learning things like this.
  11. I work as a police officer and today I went to the post office while on duty oddly enough to mail a wish package of cigars for a member on another board. A car had parked next to me while I was getting out and the occupants seemed very interested in me, you get used to that though. I went in to the post office and upon my return to the patrol car one of the women inside said that her friend a male who was in the post office was a former police officer for 20 years and wanted to take a picture with me. When I met the man he explains he is from Aus (couldnt mistake the accent) and was here on vacation. He currently lives in Coolangatta. I begin talking about wanting to visit Aus and my love of the AFL. He is a Geelong Cats season ticket holder( not the word he used, he used some word that started with a B Baristor?) Apparently he flies to all home games. Anyway pose for some picks with the patrol car and him and have a nice 10-15 minute talk. Great guy. Wanted to ask if he enjoyed Habanos, but he was with his wife and another lady and didnt want to get a bad reaction as they were likely 2x my age. OOO and for the cigar content smoking an 08 BBF. Really good, one of the better ones I have had.
  12. Really suprised to see the PSP#2 getting a bad wrap. I love them and the Shorts. I think as someone mentioned some of this may be pallet based. I think the Monte 2 is a waste compared to PSP2 or Upman2. I understand the profile with the monte 2 it just does nothing for me and bores me to tears, but I really dont like Montes except the 4 As for me Cohiba Maduros. I struggled to finish a Secreto one of the worse sticks I have ever had. 2 dollar NC Sancho Panzas are better. Monte PE and the Open line Trini 07 EL
  13. In order from my experience Cohiba Partagas H.Upman Trini Boli Juan Lopez
  14. I will agree the 09 stuff I have had has been amazing. They are not smoking like fresh cigars often and are showing a fair amount of complexity.
  15. Just got an 08 box in today. Had to smoke one rott. As i was sitting there I kept saying these will now be a staple. Had only had them very fresh and they can be a bit of a wild ride when too fresh. So much Party goodness in such a small easy to smoke format. One of the best for when on break at work.
  16. Rob or anyone else. In the review you discuss the 05 negatively. I am just wondering what was so bad about the 05's? Saw some 05 cabs floating around and was thinking about buying, but just wonder if this year would not do well for long term aging.
  17. Damn going to have to give this a shot when the next order comes in. I will sacrafice something small.
  18. Bought a box of Bach's when vendors were whoring them out. Wasted money on the 99 to 01 stock. Tent pegs half the box. As mentioned by another salty tobacco. For my money why bother when I can buy partagas or upman or Juan Lopez, or damn near anything else.
  19. Likely my favorite regular production stick right now. Burned through an 09 box fast. Suprised at how good they were fresh. Really need to buy another box, but it will likely meet the same early end.
  20. Only had one but it didnt wow me. I prefer recent production psp#2 for power and the upman #2 for complexity. Dont know what year the vr was as it was a single. Guess I need to give this another go.
  21. Thanks for the input guys. Guess I will buy some singles of these in my next order. Was not overly impressed by the #4 and did prefer the Short Church more. I have been really into the CGs lately, but have found these RyJ CGs to be elusive with many vendors who ship to where I live. I am not sure if they are produced in fewer numbers or if the price point on these tends to deter some from buying so they dont bother to carry them or if they fell out of favor do to a bad production run. Glad to have found singles that I can try here. This by all accounts I can find appears to be quiet different then the #4 which is a little suprising. I like the idea that this stick is built for the long haul and will age well. Not a huge fan of robustos and thats why I am trying to find something besides the short churchill. How do you request a video review of these? Would love see the guys do a review of these to get multiple peoples impression.
  22. Didnt want to start a new thread, so I figured I would bump this one. Currently looking into buying either a box of these or the JL #1. Can anyone advise how the current production RyJ#3 are smoking. These really seem to live in the shadows on most of the boards. Would I just be better sticking with the RyJ Short Churchills?
  23. Just got in on this. Emailed Lisa and everything appears to be going smoothly. So excited to finally get some Por La regionals. Now to just keep my hands off of them for a while and let them develop.
  24. Just found the forum and wanted to post a hello. Live in the bay area. Been smoking cigars for 4 years. Found cubans about a year ago and have been exploring the different sticks. So far my favorites are Partagas D4's, Serie P, and shorts, HDM PR and Epi2, LGCs, and most Bolis.
