  1. Nice review, glad you enjoyed!
  2. From what I remember TOS Diplo 2s at that time were on a very hot run. Sounds like you got a nice batch ??
  3. I think I know what you mean by green. This happened to me when I first switched from NCs to CCs-my humidity was too high. Try knocking down your humidity or dry box for a week to see if it helps.
  4. Nice review. Sounds like with some down time they will be ??
  5. In no particular oder 1. PL montecarlo 2. Bolivar RC 3. RASS Honorable mention- Fonseca no. 1
  6. Like my kids, one is easy and one is difficult (SLB never slides easily), but I love them both equally ?
  7. Was able to score a box of these Don Jose at a fair price. Giving them a try in hopes they can compare to the selectos finos.
  8. I would get more for your money with some quality regular production. If you are a Boli fan then you already know what you like. If not, try a few BBF, PC and/or Royal Coronas and see how they compare to the soberano. Enjoy your trip!
  9. I just saw these on sale for the first time from an online vendor at the hefty price of 1,200.00 CHF (equivalent to approx $1,271.00). Does anyone know if this pricing is accurate? (I’m assuming the answer is No as it seems very high and if so, does anyone have any info what it should be?) Boxes of 25. Not much additional info provided in terms of vitola other than an estimated smoking time of 1 hour, 40 minutes.
  10. I was told (by an insurance agent) not to smoke for a week. It worked with no issues.
  11. RA Club Allones, EL 2015. Like a RASS, but better and with more flavor. I love the size too, as if a robusto and corona gorda had a baby.
  12. I think it was all part of Di's master plan not to deal with a day's worth of emails!
  13. Thank you gentlemen. John, I've had a PSP box of the no 2s resting for about 4-5 months now. Going to be a while before I sample them, but definitely looking forward to it as they seem to get better reviews.
  14. For a long while I was curious about the Juan Lopez line and thought of them as an "under the radar" cigar. They don't get the attention other marcas do, but whenever mentioned on the forum they seemed to get high praise. About two-three months ago I was looking for a box of everyday smokes that was on the cheaper side and Rob had put up the Sel. number 1s on 'clearance.' When he stated that there wasn't a better smoking, young corona gorda out there, I jumped in and am very happy I did. I think these are gems of a smoke. One of my current favorites and much more than an everyday cigar. Their flavor is full and in your face. As mentioned this was a 'Clearance' box and the wrappers are lighter than what I am used to smoking which initially concerned me. I've smoked about 10 of these and I have not had a bad one yet. I love them. This one was especially complex and good. 1st Third: This one started differently than the others. The previous came out in a blaze of sweet black coffee, but this one was full of cream, was sweet (honey possibly), with a orange/citrus finish. All three flavors were big and each puff provided a powerful progression of them. The draw was easy and provided lots of smoke Surprising, yet excellent start. 2nd Third: Burn is tight, no touch ups required, still tons of smoke. The cream has lessened slightly and that familiar sweet, black coffee is setting in. Still not as defined as the previous ones from this box, but absolutely delicious. All finished by that same orange note. Final Third: Straight sweetened black coffee finished by the citrus. Flavorful and powerful. I would not suggest these to those who enjoy mild-med smokes. On the contrary, if you like full flavored or are transitioning from NCs, I recommend them highly. Rob mentioned these will age gracefully, but I doubt this box will make it for much longer. If these are this good now, with sub two years on them, I can't imagine what they will turn into 5-7 years down the road. For those who have smoked aged ones, I would love to hear your comments. Smoking time: 50 mins Overall: 92/100 -Jimmy
  15. Diplo no 2 Hoyo Epi no 1 Boli CG Sir Winston Cab of some DC, just not sure which
  16. 2014 RyJ Churchill. My first ever and didn't know exactly what to expect. What I got was all smooth cream and a beautiful cherry note.
  17. I've had Ryobi in the past and didn't care for it. I have Mikita now and it's great. I suggest spending the extra money now for a better brand
  18. Happy Birthday Diana! Hope you and Rob have a great weekend together.
  19. You may find that dry boxing the stick 2-3 days prior to smoking can help with this issue.
  20. If they are 'on' I have no problem tearing through a box quickly. Doing it now with a box of Boli RCs. On the contrary I worry that if I leave the box to age they will lose whatever about them that I am enjoying so much. There are plenty of great boxes out there to get after that one is done. Also, it leaves your other smokes untouched and allows time for (some) aging.
  21. I was in the neighborhood today and had to stop bye L&B, especially since day dreaming about it yesterday and all day today. These 3 went down way too easy.
  22. Welcome from NYC!
  23. There are a few posts in the 'Recent Purchases' thread that got me thinking that this is a topic worthy of further discussion... What's your favorite pie, slice or whatever you call it? And more importantly, WHY? Mine is a tie between two. Both completely different, but equally delicious. Food nirvana. 1 - DeNino's in Staten Island, NY. Thin and perfectly crispy, but chewy at the same time. Not too much cheese or sauce and the bread crumbs on the bottom side of the crust make it satisfying in every way. It just works. A lesser known pizza spot in NYC, but one worth the travel from anywhere. 2 - L&B Spumoni Gardens, Brooklyn. A thick (for NY standards) square pie that is light and fluffy with a crispy bottom. The mozz is placed on the crust and then topped with a vibrant red sauce, olive oil and grated cheese. This stuff is so good it's hard to pull yourself away from it. A NY pizza staple and for good reason. ...now I'm hungry
  24. I like the idea. All of these are before my CC time, but I know the 898 is missed by many and probably for good reason. I love the marca and would love to get my hands on some; my vote would be the RA 898.
