Campanas (3/5)

  1. Tried pre-cutting for a holiday a couple of years ago and... just didn't like it. It felt like they were secondhand somehow, like I'd started to smoke them already. I also leave the tissue on Fonsecas if I take them on holiday for the same reason. Cutting is part of the process and therefore the experience. And I'm no stranger to the thumbnail technique so lack of a cutter is not a problem. Sent by Spooky Action at a Distance
  2. Looks like something from IKEA for the kitchen worktop to be filled with large spoons, tongs, spatula and that thing that you're not sure what it's for but you keep because it was your grandma's... Sent from my SM-A536B using Tapatalk
  3. Genius, era defining band. Street attitude, tight jeans and leather biker jackets, loud guitars, 1234!, one minute songs, no messing about and all underlined by trying to sound like the Shangri-las. An early review of their live shows said that this band only has two songs- the fast one and the slow one, fortunately both are very, very good. It doesn't matter what music you're into - if you don't get this, you have no soul. End of. Sent from my SM-A536B using Tapatalk
  4. British soft furnishings company that used to use the tagline "Our prices are Sofa King low". They were forced to stop a number of years ago... Sent from my SM-A536B using Tapatalk
  5. It's good but dated. Strange to think it was regarded as almost revolutionary at the time and it certainly upped the stakes with the less obvious use of samples ie heavy rock. Their NYC hard-core roots show in the attitude but it was only in later albums they went back to the guitar/bass/drums for a couple of tracks and let rip. Would have loved to have seen them on the NYHC circuit. As a band they grew and developed beautifully and even admitted to being embarrassed by some of the stuff on here. Young, dumb and full of come - just as it should be. 7/10 Sent by spooky action at a distance
  6. All my clothes are cigar clothes. I own a wardrobe too. Sent by spooky action at a distance
  7. "Covering layer: carmelite color, fatty, silky, fine, with a matte sheen. " Fatty? OK... should help combustion I s'pose. Sent by spooky action at a distance
  8. Do they have to be real Cohibas? And if they are claimed to be so, will you be requiring authentication? Asking for a friend....🙃
  9. My Montecristo Review Weekend prize arrived today (RAG and HU2). Beautiful cigars from a beautiful forum. Thanks FoH team! Nx Sent by spooky action at a distance
  10. Over the years I've always liked Lou Reed but never went deep on his stuff. Then I realised he was actually one of my favourite artists, I'm slow on the uptake, and Transformer one of his best. It's just full of humanity and humour, real heart on the sleeve stuff. 8/10 but dig out any live sessions to find the real deal. Sent by spooky action at a distance
  11. I've been looking recently at the usual reliable online vendors for Cazzies as I'd love to restock but no joy. If they pop up on 24:24 they'll go quicker than a Tory u-turn. Sent by spooky action at a distance
  12. New Canadian dissuasive packaging ploy? - doesn't actually say what variety of Cohiba they are thus causing confusion and putting customers off the purchase. Clever. Sent by spooky action at a distance

  14. Box pressed within an inch of it's life, firm and angular, but didn't feel overweight. I was a little trepidatious but was greeted with a light draw from a shallow v-cut (key ring cutter, neat little thing that cost pennies). Nice wrapper, very smooth. Cold draw was new leather. A still and warm day and I was surrounded by the delicious and sweet smelling aroma on lighting. The leather was dominant and fresh in character. These are usually quite powerful but this example seemed less so. As it opened there was a slight floral note which seemed to come and go through the first half, disappearing eventually. It certainly, as these do, reminded me of the Tubos No1 - not as rich but still a satisfying mix of leather, biscuit, sweet herbs, slight cocoa. Nothing harsh at all and didn't really alter much in it's lovely profile, just a nice lilting journey through Bolivar country. I was expecting more oomph but it never ramped up as I expected it to even as I threatened burnt my fingernails at the last. It had burned perfectly throughout. I binged on the No1 when I got my hands on a few boxes as they were being deleted but may have to dip into my remaining few soon... A cigar that wasn't quite what I anticipated but nonetheless was excellent. Score - Mid-nineties, whatever that may mean. (This review was almost on the Bolivar Soberanos LE but I couldn't bring myself to crack the box. It'll be interesting to see if anyone else does one as it doesn't get seen much around these here parts) Sent by spooky action at a distance
