Hello my FOH brothers, I am running this poll to try and help members new to our hobby/obsession decide on some of their first box purchases. Not all our members are fortunate enough to be able to purchase a box of fine Cubans jut to put them down for several years before smoking one. I feel bad when I see posts about someone not enjoying a cigar all because they smoked them to soon unknowingly. So I plan to query our members every few days with a new cigar and keep an up to date list of the results. Similar to what the Czar crew is running right now (Thanks for the great idea Ghabanos). Remember when you vote that these would be boxes currently available if you were to order them from the Cigar Czar, so recent box codes. This is my first poll so if you have any suggestions please let me know!

I would always recommend someone new too try a couple samplers to just find out what they personally like, the samplers our most likely not to old either. I like the Quai D'Orsay Coronas and siglo 2s after a couple months in the humi, but thats a matter of personal taste. Im sure the prez could give a good list of cigars that smoke well young.

The Party Shorts are one of the best fresh Habanos out there, imvho, and based on my limited experience. Other typically good choices (to me) are the Trinidad Robusto T, Bolivar PC, and Bolivar RC.

Thanks for suggesting doing this in a poll format. Hopefully the Mods won't mind us doing this and posting a chart of the results.

Thanks for the input! I was planning on including these as well. :D

I agree wholeheartedly. These are enjoyable little butt-kickers fresh and get better with a moderate amount of age. One of my all time favorites and a PC well worth keeping stocked in rolling inventory (i.e., 2003, 2005, 2007, etc.)

Great pick for first cc to do a poll on.. Will hVe to pick up another cab to put away and start my own rolling inventory

I've had a good time with my 2010s, and have heard from others that it was a great year for them as well. You might look into picking up a cab soon (you could ask Lisa to tag a 2010 cab for you if they get another one in).

That's awesome. I have a cab sitiing in the humi now from oct 2010. Will look to pick up some more...

The 2010 shorts are wonderful cigars. It's what I recommend to every first time buyer since they smoke well after you have them rest long enough to get to the proper humidity.

My experience with these has been that they smoke fantastically even very fresh.

I have 2 dress boxes dated Feb 2011 that I am resting a bit after their long trip but REALLY want to torch one up to see what it's like!! Do I wait or do I smoke one now? Decisions..Decisions...

It never hurts to try one now. I think it's educational to know how your cigars taste and smoke at different stages of their development.

I just smoked my first Short from a FEB11 box that has been sitting in my humidor for two weeks since they came in the mail, and it was pretty enjoyable. From reputation it seems like these are always pretty good fresh and the one I've smoked reinforced that. I think they would be a great first box purchase for a newer smoker. Only thing is they are pretty strong which good put some rookies off of them.
