shrink Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 I have to share this. On my way home tonight about 9:30 PM, I was on the outskirts of the small town in which I work, heading home. Suddenly, through the trees to the north, my attention was drawn to a very bright red light. Since it was low, no more than a hundred yards off the ground, I was confused by what I was seeing. At first, I thought it was a light on top of some radio tower, but there isn't any such tower in the area. Then, I could see it was moving in my direction. It passed very slowly over the two-lane road on which I was driving, no more than two or three hundred feet in front and above me. I would estimate it's speed as no more than fifteen or twenty miles per hour. What had first appeared as a solid red light wasn't solid at all. It was spherical, and made up of a geometrical assembly of very bright red lights, each apparently identical and equally bright. I would estimate the size of the sphere as no more than ten or fifteen feet in diameter, about the size of a small car, and as it moved, it was quite clear that the lights were evenly spaced, geometrically around the sphere. Frankly, it looked like some kind of huge lighted Christmas ornament. And it was beautiful. I was transfixed. I pulled the car to the side of the road, and rolled down the window, which provided a clear and unmistakeable view of the sphere, which was no more than a hundred yards away. It was completely silent, seemingly floating in the air. It continued it's southward course, and as it passed by, I was struck by how evenly spaced the lights were all around the outside of the sphere. The red lights had a metallic quality, with a magenta tone. They were very bright, and I could make out each individual light. It was a ball of closely-spaced red lights. I watched the sphere as it continued slowly south for perhaps a half-mile, clearly silhouetted against the dark night sky. Then, it accelerated abruptly, and moved up so quickly that it disappeared in the darkness. There was nothing left to see but the stars. No, I wasn't drinking, or smoking anything. I have never witnessed anything like it. I am convinced that it wasn't any kind of aircraft; not an airplane, or a helicopter, or any kind of balloon. There was no wind, and absolutely no sound whatsoever.
Guest rob Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 Wow! What did you feel / think directly afterwards? Like you were dreaming? What about now that you've had some time to think about it?
shrink Posted May 22, 2012 Author Posted May 22, 2012 What did you feel / think directly afterwards? Like you were dreaming? What about now that you've had some time to think about it? Surprisingly, I wasn't as excited as I would have expected myself to be. Actually, I had a sense of peace and wonder. I had several immediate thoughts. The first was wondering if anyone else had seen it. I'm going to call the local radio station and newspaper tomorrow to find out. Now, a few hours later, I'm thinking, "so this is what other people have experienced". I'm very curious, and plan to do some research online.
Bernid Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 Exactly where did this happen? In Cali? I used to live in Tahoe and I saw a lot of unexplainable things there... How about you mates down under?...Do you guys see strange unexplainables?

How about you mates down under?...Do you guys see strange unexplainables? I live in Bishop, California, about three hours south of Tahoe in a valley between 13,000 foot peaks. It's the biggest town in the county with less than 8,000 population. No military bases or commercial airfields anywhere near.
coblos Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 ... How about you mates down under?...Do you guys see strange unexplainables? I know a couple of people who when working near Brewarrina claimed they saw Min Min Light
Styler Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 Wow, thanks for sharing. Please report back if you find out that others saw it as well!
canadianbeaver Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 Great story and clearly a lucid, descriptive account of whatever you saw.
Puros Y Vino Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 Wow. Very interesting. Good clear account as well. If you're artistically inclined, try to draw it.
MIKA27 Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 Exactly where did this happen? In Cali? I used to live in Tahoe and I saw a lot of unexplainable things there... How about you mates down under?...Do you guys see strange unexplainables? Firstly, thanks for posting this, I myself love the 'Unknown' and it seems you have just seen a UFO. Immediately people think, "Aliens, little green men" and whilst that is a possibility parse, it is an Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) which could be anything. There are loads of sightings throughout the world and of late, loads happening in Australia and a great deal more in Asia. Don't know why, but weather one wishes to believe it or not, we have a lot of unexplained stuff in this world and even the 'Multiverse' which even Albert Einstein theorized was possible with multiple dimensions. In your case, there are loads of sightings and a great place to log a sighting and even read up on others who have lodged official sightings, I'd recommend you visit the link which is an official website for such occurrences. http://www.mufon.com/ Once you log onto the link, look top right side of the page where you can read up on similar sightings, possibly someone else in your area has already reported it? It certainly is fascinating and it's great that you shared this with us. EDIT: I just checked the Mufon website and to the left of the Home screen, there is a map. Click on that and to the top of the page is a 'search' engine. Type in California and there are 'Live' reporting's with UFO activity. Seems like a fair few actually.
Michel1968 Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 It certainly is fascinating and it's great that you shared this with us. Rightly so, it takes (more than) a fair amount of courage to report such events. Thanks for sharing!!!
brutusthebuckeye Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 I got to get me some of that Tahoe OG Kush .....lol All joking aside very interesting ..I checked that mufon site and there r 3 sightings less than a mile from my house
TWalker Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 Fascinating, thanks for sharing your story. Too bad you couldn't get a picture. I'm also very interested in stuff like this but I've never seen anything I couldn't explain. I'm still hopefull I'll see something in my lifetime, but it may never happen. Do you have any ideas about what you may have seen? Do you believe in extraterrestrial intelligence? I've always said (to myself, actually) that since we send un-manned vehicles to other planets and moons, then why should it be such a stretch for us to see an un-occupied aerial vehicle in our own skies. The other part of me believes this is all man-made and supressed for political reasons. That's a whole other can of worms.
CaptainQuintero Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 The universe itself keeps on expanding and expanding In all of the directions it can whizz As fast as it can go, at the speed of light, you know, Twelve million miles a minute, and that's the fastest speed there is. So remember, when you're feeling very small and insecure, How amazingly unlikely is your birth, And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere up in space, 'Cause there's bugger all down here on Earth. Good experience and thanks for telling us! Quite glad there are no pics as then you start getting people saying 'No that's just an African Swallow' etc..
Loki Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 WOW Bob. Cool experience. The thought that I would like to see a Foo Fighter has crossed my mind on several occasions.
CaptainQuintero Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 WOW Bob. Cool experience. The thought that I would like to see a Foo Fighter has crossed my mind on several occasions. They're pretty bad live, never been a huge fan of them but seeing them live turned me off them for life.
Geo17pip Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 Amazing! I want to see one, we cant be the only ones.
Fuzz AI Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 How about you mates down under?...Do you guys see strange unexplainables? Sure we see strange unexplainables Down Under... every time we see Ken in shorts during the cigar reviews! Seriously, though. There have been quite a number of UFO sightings in Australia, especially down the Stuart Highway near Woomera and Wycliffe Well. For those of you who have never heard of Woomera SA, it is the largest land-based weapons research and testing facility in the world. Primarily a rocket testing facility, the Woomera Prohibited Area has also been the site of at least 11 nuclear weapons tests (7 major tests, 4 minor). One famous incident is the Westall sighting in 1966. Allegedly, for over 20 minutes 200 students and teachers witnessed a UFO which descended into a nearby field. I personally haven't seen a UFO, but I have seen other weird stuff in the past that I can't explain and not totally comfortably with to this day.
shrink Posted May 23, 2012 Author Posted May 23, 2012 I wasn't frightened at all. I had no sense that it was any threat, or was paying attention to me at all. It was just "doing it's thing" and passing by. No, my attitude was one of intense concentration, since I realized immediately that I was seeing something very unusual, and I wanted to take in every detail. I intentionally tried to estimate it's size and it's height above the ground, using nearby trees and other objects for reference. I tried to count the number of lights, but strangely that wasn't easy, because the angle of view kept changing as it moved by. I think that it had 6 lights on each hemisphere. As the object passed by, I had no unusual physical or mental sensations, other than a sense of wonder. I was disappointed when it was gone. Unfortunately, I had no cell phone with me at the time, and I don't carry a camera in the car. When I got home, I immediately wrote a detailed description of the event, which I summarized on this thread. The purpose was to memorialize my observations and details while they were still fresh. Re-reading my post, I am confident that it is correct as I experienced the event. Tonight, 24 hours later, I am pleased that I was privileged to witness this object, especially at night in all it's illuminated glory. The one word that comes to mind again and again is "beautiful". In that brief observation, I have gained insight into the mindset of many people who have witnessed similar events, some of whom have shared them with me. I have always had a curiosity about "UFO's", but having never seen one, have reserved a certain skepticism. I am a skeptic no longer.
Puros Y Vino Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 I personally haven't seen a UFO, but I have seen other weird stuff in the past that I can't explain and not totally comfortably with to this day. That calls for a thread of it's own. I got some neat stories on that front.
sblevit Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 Do you suspect that they had an anal probe on board? 1
