Aficionado
Following clarification of a vendor's bothering me some question. What is the box code? Date of packaging cigars in boxes, yes or not. Is it possible that the cigars from MAY08 or OCT08 have left until 2009 with the new stamps?
Tampa1257
It is my understanding that the box code date stamped on the bottom of the box is when the cigar are leaving the facory, so yes, cigars that were actually rolled in Oct 08 could have 09 codes stamped on the box. The code is not when the cigars are rolled, but leaving the factory.
Aficionado
The code is not when the cigars are rolled, but leaving the factory. I've just me so it seems. If you're right. It should not be on the boxes of new stamps .

bkmynn
A friend picked up two boxes of Monte Christo #4's in Cuba for me. A box of 25's and one 10 box. The 25's from NOV07 are smoking like a dream. The 10 box from SEP08 had the new warranty seal with serial no. and hologram. Last time I smoked one was this past summer in August - was terrible compared to the 07 box. Hopefully its better next summer. It doesn't answer your question, but it's happened to me as well. Hopefully your sticks are smoking better.
El Presidente
Tampa is right. There is limited ability to roll and then store in factory. When it does occur my understanding is it occurs primarily because of a cock up (boxes, jars, packaging) not ready. Feel free to post an picture of what you are trying to discern. If it is a legitimate vendor (which will stay confidential) then there is likely to be a good reason which I can find out from Jose.
bkmynn
Attached are pictures of the front and rear of the 10 box of Monte #4's I was talking about earlier. Picture quality is not the best, but you can see what I mean.
bkmynn
I should mention that I haven't questioned the authenticity of the cigars. Just hoping they smoke better in about 7 months.

El Presidente
Purchased at a Caracol store in Havana I assume. They could be genuine or fake..it is a punt when purchased from Caracol. I have witnessed first hand fake Trini A's and Monte Sublimes being sold at a Caracol store in Havana.

I'm going down to Cayo Coco in late December...not a haven for cigars, but its a family trip - in any event, I understand that there are no LCDH shops there, any tips when buying smokes in a government shop? Thanks.
El Presidente
If you don't mind me asking - what is a Caracol store? Thanks. On the bottom of your box you have Tiendas Caracol which is a chain of stores in Cuba and I believe other latin American countries.
