Hello all, a few of my friends arrived to my house today for the first time:

Mr. Monte the 2nd

Mrs. Partagas

Mr and Mrs Cohiba and

Romeo and Juliet

Of course I welcomed them in with open arms!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How long do I need to hold these folks hostage before I set them on fire!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't wait!!!!!!!!

My recommendation would be for you to wait at least a month as you let your guests rest in your humidor before you light them on fire.

I know its hard to wait... Im smoking a cigar i just got in the mail today... a monte 4... but ima let the rest of the box rest awhile. Ima give it prolly a month before i break back into them. Right now its good, but some age will do it justice.

Welcome the spoiler! I think if the cigars are truly over humidified then a stay of 90 to 120 days may be in order to bring them to prime. I, on the other hand, advocate taking the risk, you can always buy more; smoke a cigar!

I have certainly smoked some (well many) before their prime; it is not the best advice to do so. But it is in the experience that you get to know your palate and the cigars that you introduce to them.

Once when taking a road trip with some fellow smokers we stopped by the post on the way outta' town. We broke open the box... then the sub-boxes and started smoking those unseasoned cigars right in the car, and subsequently all the way to our destination. There was just something grand about the occasion! I thought of freedom... I pictured women burning their bras, topless as a matter of fact... then someone honked at me and I was forced to drive again!!! -Piggy

P, you are not alone (surprised?) but I may be a bit different. I will from time to time smoke a new acquisition almost immediately upon

arrival. There is something about the intensity of aroma - a juicyness. Otherwise, I like to wait a month or two. I've found that if I wait a

few days or week or so, they do not have the same intensity as an immediate smoke, or a cigar that has been allowed to fully acclimatize.

Of course, these things can vary, and it's just a personal opinion - it's not something I would advocate to anybody.

That's interesting, I've found that too. It's like they have an awkward adjustment period and the flavours are way out of whack after being put in and before the 30 odd days.

Those are some great friends you have there. Like the others, I wait at least 30 days before touching the cigars. Every cigar I've smoked ROTT has been a waste. Your patience will be rewarded.

I tend to wait at least 30 days as well. Occassionly there have been lapses...but I always regret it. I guess I never learn...
