Ken Gargett Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 i know almost nothing about this bloke personally - other than his football ability - but just got a video (i suspect it has probably done the rounds in the states) which suggests he has a seriously good sense of humour. have emailed it to rob and smithy to see if they can overcome the technical hurdles that prevent me from posting. anyone know much about him off the field?
fryguy Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 I'm a Pittsburgh Steelers fan but, the Colts are my second choice team because of Peyton Manning. Not only is he probably one of the best NFL quarterbacks of all time, he seems like a real stand-up guy and, yes, he is freakin hilarious! He has many television commercials that air here in the states and most are usually pretty comical. He has also done a few commercials with his younger brother Eli (also an NFL quaterback, New York Giants....in case you didn't know) and the two of them together are equally as amusing. Just my opinion....I'm sure you'll get several more. It seems that most people either love him, or hate him.
Ken Gargett Posted October 26, 2009 Author Posted October 26, 2009 Referring to this? SNL United Way Skit can't tell. the site says i have to be from the states to access.
SamuraiJack Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 Peyton is a star in many ways, not just on the field.
asmith Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 have emailed it to rob and smithy to see if they can overcome the technical hurdles that prevent me from posting. Technical hurdles, is that all????
thechenman Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Too many of his commercials are freakin hilarious...great quarterback who knows how to laugh at himself.
terrantheman Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 I love that skit from SNL! I almost lost bodily fluid function from laughing so hard!
bigfunkyg Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 Suprisingly he has been the best sports star to host SNL. Wayne Gretzky was absolutely brutal back in the 90's when he hosted. Michael Jordan was OK, but still not great. Don't even remember Charles Barkley, Jeff Gordon, Andy Roddick, or some of these other guys!?!? http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page3/story?page=SNL/hruby
FireDigger Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 I've been following his playing career since his freshman year at Tennessee. I lived in Knoxville for five years, so naturally a big UT fan. I remember his first television appearance, either a halftime or post game interview during his first game against UCLA. He sounded like a young hick with a thick Southern accent. You can tell he was nervous. He has since come a long ways in improving his charisma.
jquest63 Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 Peyton is well loved and respected here in Indianapolis. Hope he stays on after retirement.
