Jesuscookies Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 Anybody else received JLP's with a Cohiba insert in it? I actually got a box about a month back and thought nothing of it because the box had been labeled over. However today, I got a box of #1's with a different date stamp, not relabeled and with a cohiba insert. Anyone else received a box of JLP's with the Cohiba insert, or am I getting fakes from 2 different sellers
rckymtn22 Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 I think I have heard the saying on here before "that's Cuba"!
El Presidente Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 I haven't seen that before. Could be a factory mixup or simply the vendor put the wrong insert when Quality checking boxes for clients.
Jesuscookies Posted October 8, 2009 Author Posted October 8, 2009 I haven't seen that before. Could be a factory mixup or simply the vendor put the wrong insert when Quality checking boxes for clients. That is what I thought. Problem is I received a second box from a different vendor without a second label. It was completely sealed, never opened. It also had the same Cohiba insert.
SethG Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Obviously there's a ton more to the equation but sometimes fakes enter the distribution channel for the grey market. Why not show us the serial number on the new tax sticker so we can trace it?

Jesuscookies Posted October 9, 2009 Author Posted October 9, 2009 Obviously there's a ton more to the equation but sometimes fakes enter the distribution channel for the grey market. Why not show us the serial number on the new tax sticker so we can trace it? Because the numbers have been removed. The importer removed them to protect his distributor. That verification site seems useless anyway, at this point. I have checked cigars from FOH and been told they were fraudulent. Also, I highly doubt these cigars are fake, as I have smoked from the box, and they are spot on JLP. Additionally, the vendor is a known legit seller. I know from smoking many JLP's and Cohibas that the blends, at least in the 08's, are very similar. This leads me to believe they are being made in the same facility. I think this is more about a shortage of materials than anything else.
cigarros Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 I haven't seen that before. Could be a factory mixup or simply the vendor put the wrong insert when Quality checking boxes for clients. This box looks good, not seems like a fake. What about cigars inside? Agree with Rob, probably vendor put another one insert while checking boxes...
PigFish Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 ...damn cigar gremlins! Dude, I think all that paste is going to your head!!! -LOL Dave on a more serious note I think you answered your own question and that is that you are satisfied that the cigars are legit; that is all that matters. I have not seen this myself but I have heard others say that they have. I would have to think that Rob makes a valid argument. Picture this. You are sealing up your last boxes of cigars, it is 4pm on a Friday and it is mojito time!!! -Piggy
Smallclub Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 I have had once a Punch RS12 ribbon in a cab of an other marca… Why do you call Juan Lopez "JLPs"? To me, JLP= Piedra cigars (Jose La Piedra)… it's confusing…

Anyone else received a box of JLP's with the Cohiba insert, or am I getting fakes from 2 different sellers About a year ago, I received two 50 cabs of SLR Regios with El Rey Mundo cedar inserts. They were early 2008 vintage. It concerned me at first until I accepted it as another inconsistency of manufacturing. Actually, I'm glad to see it happening to someone else as it validates that I am not alone. BTW: The cigars were absolutely real and from a very trusted store. It happens.

I don't know how comfortable I'd be if this happened to me though...it really doesn't make sense that the insert would be different...oh well.
