PPP was the second CC I ever smoked, and consolidated my love for CCs in general. But I've been shunning Punch for the last year or so, therefore was eager to give this one a try - to rekindle the love.

Punch Royal Selection No. 11. Date/code unknown. Purchased as a sinlge from CC. Likely '08.

Construction: 4/5 - Firm, a little veiny

Colour: Think of a cafe latte

Pre-light aroma: Almost nothing to speak of - a slight sweetness is all I could detect

Cut: The cut was fairly poor. Having nicked the cap off, I caught a bit of the wrapper too, which unfortunately, was unavoidable.

1st third: Was immediately impressed by the sweetness and creaminess of the cigar. Could detect a bit of grassiness. Burn was brilliant. Ash is pure white at this stage

2nd third: Sweetness and creaminess still there - enveloping the mouth (especially on the tip of the tongue), but a distinct hint of honey starting to develop. Aroma is dry grass. Interesting combo!!

3rd third: Sweetness and creaminess dying down a bit. Honey really noticeable! Starting to taste grassy now. I like this honey and grass thing! Burn has gotten uneven, and ash ugly. My cigars are a little overhumidified, so I will not put this down to a fault in the cigar.

Verdict: Where has this cigar been all my life? 94/100. A memorable smoking experience. Tasted like it had at least two years on it.

Forgot to add, that I paired the cigar with a double espresso (or more like quadruple ristretto - extra strong), and after the first half, changed to water. The combination was spot on.

Awesome review Kanga...I also like the honey/grass combo whenever I find it.

This is a cigar that I need to re-visit as well. I really like the Punch line especialy the SSI, SSII's and RS12's with some age.

It seems like the RS11's smoked better when young as compared to the ones I mentioned above.

I felt that my R11's needed about just as much time as the ones mentioned to start smoking where I wanted them.
