Whats up everyone? First off I would like to wish all my patriots a Happy Independence Day! Hope you all enjoy your long weekend..

So my question for you all to ponder over the weekend is in regards to relocating... I'm moving out of my digs ging about an hour and a half from my current location (depending on NY traffic). I currently have a Aristocrat humidor (M cabinet). Which is the best way to relocate the current stock.. Apprx 20+ boxes 12 of which are from the Prez and company! The temperature here now is 80 degrees F+. Humidity is dreadful here now- like the amazon... Am I being overly concerned? Any and all ideas will be appreciated... Mike

Just my opinion - don't be overly concerned - move them first, move them last - worst comes to worst, just don't leave them sitting somewhere

all day.

Happy Independence Day to you as well!!

In our really hot Summer, when I moved my wine and cigar collection - I made sure to have them transported during the mornings and night time.

When I moved from Florida to North Carolina; a 12 hour drive, I moved 50+ boxes inside my Aristocrat. They were in excellent condition after the move and resettled in very little time. The biggest adjustment was the different RH in the new location, the set & forget worked perfectly.

We moved a few months ago, when Beijing was at its driest (skin peelingly dry), and I put my boxes into those vacuum bags that you can get to store clothes etc. They were pretty neat, just use a vacuum cleaner to suck the air out and the bags turn into an air tight container :) Our move took about 2 days in total and the smokes were in fine condition when I packed them into my humidor again.

I wouldn't worry too much though - I only used the bags because we happened to have a couple spare hanging around....

Good luck with the move :)

Seems like there's a bunch of good advice here for your move.

It's a somewhat different problem for me.

Eventually, we're going to move back to the States from Paris.

When we moved here, a company came to our apartment in Brooklyn, packed stuff, made a detailed shipping manifest, (including indication on the boxes that we'd already packed and sealed), loaded a truck and eventually a shipping container. On the Paris end, it was the opposite. Unloaded, unpacked and checked against the manifest.

So what to do with an Aristocrat end-table and some 25 boxes of cigars and a drawer full of singles?

Thanks fellas- sounds like the cooler with beads will be the easiest way to go...! Thanks to all for taking your time out to respond... -Mike

When we moved last summer, I double-bagged garbage bags inside of moving boxes, filled the boxes up and then seperatley sealed each bag with knots & moving tape. I bagged singles into larger Ziplocs, keeping them to about 25/bag so they wouldn't get damaged.

I moved the boxes myself in my car(a/c on), and had 0 damage.

I used coolers w/beads and cold packs in zip loc bags during my last move.

I've always thought that it was ok just to let the smokes breathe every now and then. I'm not a proponent of the "sealed" humidor. So long as your car was air conditioned and they werent left out in the sun, I'd not worry about it..
