El Presidente Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 We were talking about a World Blind Cigar Challenge in 2010. Here is the concept. Feel free to add any ideas. We will have competitions running Last Saturday of each month. Example: January: Singapore, February: Cuba (special tie in with Habanos festival)) March: Italy April New York May Australia (Melbourne) June France July San Francisco August Shanghai September Hong Kong October Tampa November London December: Final * We will work with current Robusto formats (no older than 3 years). * All cigars from same box code. * 25 maximum competitors each round. * Knockout competition. You must vote on each cigar smoked (one at a time) If you are wrong....you are out. * If there is a tie then we will have a "smoke off" based on half Corona's. * Each round will be hosted organized by a club /divan. They will supply the cigars where possible for the tasting. Entry price is the cost of the three cigars. * Each round to be filmed and posted on FOH. For the final....I will send cigars to each of the round winners along the same rules as the knockout rounds. One cigar to smoked each week. Your nomination of the cigar to be PM'd to me. I will post on the forum if you have been successfull or not. We move to the next week. Again we will encourage a home video of your tasting To the winner a "World Blind tasting Champion Trophy" We will inscribe your name as 2010 champion and provide a miniture replica while the original is kept here for the following year. Positives: 1. Allows members to get together and have a blast. 2. Allows you to really test yourself. 3. Lisa has to do nothing
laficion Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 Sounds Great Rob RDV June in Fance guys. Rob, It would be great to organize this event in the south of France. Everytime something of interest happens, It's always Paris, Why ? In June the Med is beautiful, the sky is blue, the food is great and the wines are fresh, also we have some great clubs here, not the boring snobs or the June rains in Paris. Any way you see It, count us in, we're ready.

smk819 Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 Will the smoke nazis in San Francisco let you smoke in public? Washington is confined to smoking inside only on Reservation land.most casinos allow cigarettes only. There are a few places for cigar smoker though.
brooklyn Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 Great Idea. I can trek up to Tampa. I am game. peter
kilroy Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 For this I'm glad Tampa1257 has moved up to NC... I wouldn't stand a chance if he was still here!
strayvector Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Rob, I don't see Tucson on that list. What gives? Since you've ignored the cigar mecca of the southwest, here's an idea...how about an extra round at the RTDA in New Orleans in August. If you go, I'll make every effort to meet you there.

Atlantic City Casino's let you smoke cigars without issue..... Awesome competition Rob!!
sounddust Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 January will be great in Singapore! And February will certainly be intriguing
IceChant Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 Sounds great, this year I didn't have time for trip outside my country but looks like I'll plan next year to free time to one of Europe's visits.
