Mr. Japan Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 This is from the Fextival X box, the Trinidad Robustos Extra 50*156. I have smoked several cigars from different boxes and this cigar is exactly the same, I do not find any difference in taste/aroma to the regular production, this is a good cigar, perfect draw and burning fine. First ash falls after about the first third, very firm. The aroma are butter and nuts, very light. Strenght is medium until the 3/3 where it got full taste also with some candied fruit (very light spices). It’s not a cigar for smokers that like “strength..pepper…”. Globally a satisfying smoke but I will surely finish the day with something stronger.
maalouly Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 I have never had a Trinidad cigar but it sounds very nice. Thanx for the review mate. Cheers, Elie.
Ken Gargett Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 nice review. is there a story behind the ashtray?
Mr. Japan Posted April 12, 2009 Author Posted April 12, 2009 I'm surprised that it is shown interest in our club ashtray, as it is been posted several times in these years in some of my little reviews. Maybe these photo's give more merit to the beautifull colours. Ken tehre should be one in Czars house. The story is that we started the Amicigar Club in Avellino we asked a skilled artisan to make a special ashtray for us , hand painted . On the back you find the sign of the producer, the city "Vietri sul Mare" and the date that it was made.

Ken Gargett Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Tell us more of the incident ;-) one night, i innocently asked minismithy if the ashtray on the table was okay to use. he said yes. i used it. turns out that it was rob's squillion dollar bells and whistles fave and i have never been allowed near an ashtray again. he lets me use a large gray bucket.

LOL. I've heard that story before. Gino, I've admired that ashtray numerous times. It's one of the nicest I've seen.
Mr. Japan Posted April 12, 2009 Author Posted April 12, 2009 Maybe Rob should commission a Czar edition It's possible, I'll talk to Rob if he wants to do it.
El Presidente Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Firstly Gino.....excellent review and photo's! I have probably been left wanting when smoking the Trinidad Robusto Extra more times than I care to remember. The times I have been entranced have been few and far between. Re Ken's...."Night of the Ahtray Assault" The following morning after one of our Czar House functions, I noticed that each of our Bugatti crystal ashtrays on display had ash and cigar butts in them. There was a tell tale sigh as to who the culptit was. I rang Ken "Why did you ash in each of my $800 crystal ashtays" Ken " I am stunned at the brazen accusation. There were 50 people at the party but you see fit to cast a slur on my reputation. This miscarriage of justice will not be forgotten!!!!!!!!!" RA: "Ken, I found a Springsteen CD next to the dirty ashtrays" Ken: "Mini Smithy said I could do it!!!!!!!" one night, i innocently asked minismithy if the ashtray on the table was okay to use. he said yes. i used it. turns out that it was rob's squillion dollar bells and whistles fave and i have never been allowed near an ashtray again. he lets me use a large gray bucket.

RA: "Ken, I found a Springsteen CD next to the dirty ashtrays" Ken: "Mini Smithy said I could do it!!!!!!!" okay, there may be some truth to both stories but i am, of course, beyond pointing fingers of blame (except at minismithy). i dispute two issues, however. 1. you told me they were worth about ten grand each at the time (ah, catholics and guilt). 2. one butt. there may have been ash in several but if more than one butt, then there was a copycat asher on the prowl!
sounddust Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 It's possible, I'll talk to Rob if he wants to do it. All right Prez, it's your call.
