I haven't seen a good Gin discussion on here in a while (maybe ever). It's kind of a seasonal thing for me. I drink Bourbon and Scotch beginning with the first College Football game through the winter until the Kentucky Derby then drink Gin from the Derby through the Summer until football starts up. I'm not too picky but I typically drink Bombay Sapphire and Tonic or Soda. I also will have the occasional Martini. I think that Gin goes great with cigars as well. So, does anyone else like the stuff? What's good?

i was drinking a hendricks gin with a mag 46 last night. i think they work well.

we did have a discussion a long time ago i think. i prefer the standard bombay to the sapphire (and the ridiculous egg they have out at the moment) - it has a bucket of flavour. tanq's and tanq's ten both superb. and hendricks.

Hendricks is my favourite. The tanquerays are pretty nice as well. There are few drinks more refreshing in the summer than a g+t.

I agree with Ken that Hendricks is very good.

My favorite though is Brokers and I highly recommend it. I like a Gin Ricky during the summer months.

Hendricks and Boodles are my favs. I never really enjoyed drinking gin while smoking cigars though. The dryness kinda messes up my palate.

Hendricks has been a long standing favorite.

Found a couple new Gins lately Junipero from Anchor brewing Co San Fransisco

Anchor Brewing

Rogue Brewery is also distilling spirits now and really liked their gin.

Heard the Rum was top notch as well but that's for another thread

I haven't tried the Hendricks yet...was a little apprehensive about the cucumber but it sounds like I need to give it a go.

Love Hendricks, Tanq 10 and Rangpur, Sapphire, Magellin, Quintessential. All of these are great for G&T. Not a big gin martini fan, I prefer vodka for a martini.

I'm wanting to try Citadelle gin as well. Haven't gotten around to it.

I am also a Hendricks man, but I dont see it as an 'everyday' gin.

For me it is best on a hot day with tonic and a slice of cucumber

(instead of lime or lemon, Hendricks has a cucumber essence for those that have not tired it.)

VERY refreshing.

Love Bombay Sapphire - in a martini so dry it extracts moisture from the air around it!! The vermouth bottle should merely pass over the glass [or some such quote from I believe the late queen mother]

Well I have to put my 2cents in on THIS topic... Hendricks.. Oh Hell yes.. but usually when i am at Flemming Steak house or Ruth Chris... Bombay Saphire was my standard for many a year.. Ask rob.. he's seen me spill more than i drank in Vegas chasing Asian Pootang. Anyway lately i if not Hendricks, and when Scotch is not in my dram glass, I went back to regular Bombay. Dryer, Not so complicated with all that 16 herbs and spices stuff.

Any way It makes a damn good tini.. What the hell is a Martini now days.. Basically i have my Hot little blonde Bartender ( Pictures forth coming) pick up the Vermouth Bottle . Plat a sweet little kiss on it and put it back.. My Tini's are straight Cold Gin ( All praise Ace Freely.. Cold Gin Time Again)... So in reality it's straight from the bottle in a child glass and a shaking with ice. There's My Tini.

Yes my Ladies enjoy that fruity B.S. but that's fine with me. A Martini is GIN ..NOT EFFIN Vodka, All appologies to J. Bond. Ok I'm Done .. So drink up fellas.. Nothing like a Siglo V and a Hendricks ice Cold!

Hendricks for me when it comes to a Gin & Tonic (with a slice of hot-house cucumber of course).

If I'm in the mood to shake up a martini made with gin, it's Bombay Sapphire and a twist of lemon, or perhaps a Santa Barbara Olive stuffed with Bleu Cheese.

Gin noob here...really like Tanq 10, haven't branched out much further than that

just realized I've never paired a cigar and gin...seems like a good clean G&T would be a refreshing drink to have with a smoke this summer...what do you guys think...any specific suggestions for a good gin or gin drink with a smoke?

Bombay Sapphire is my regular gin and Tanqueray 10 is my special gin. I take my gin in martinis with a smidge of vermouth.

I love the clarity of Sapphire and the floral citrus character of the 10.
